State of Massachusetts Dep. Dir., Communications and Digital Media in Boston, Massachusetts

The Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD) is a Secretariat which manages the Commonwealth’s workforce development and labor departments to ensure that workers, employers, and the unemployed have the tools and training needed to succeed in the Massachusetts economy. EOLWD consists of six departments: MassHire Department of Career Services, Department of Industrial Accidents, Department of Labor Standards, Department of Labor Relations, Department of Unemployment Assistance, and the Department of Paid Family and Medical Leave. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Deputy Director of Communications and Digital Media coordinates press outreach for the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD) and its departments and quasi agency. The incumbent executes all aspects of communications throughout the state about EOLWD’s mission, policies and priorities to the media as well as to other internal and external constituencies. He/she coordinates their activities with the Communications Offices of the Secretary and of the Governor on all matters. The incumbent will develop policy and process for digital media initiatives for EOLWD and its departments and quasi-agency and create quartely newsletters. Additionally, he/she may participate in public meetings, events, working groups, committees, conferences, and individual meetings. _Preferred Qualifications_: * Bachelor's Degree in Communications or English strongly preferred but not required * Three to five years of experience in communications or public relations, as a writer, or as a reporter * Experience in government communications setting and/or knowledge of Executive Branch of state government * Knowledge and experience in social and online media, including basic video editing & publishing * Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) five (5) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, professional internship, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience. II. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience. III. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required experience. IV.
