In this role, you will help to bring Facebook Inc.‘s Commerce strategy to life on Instagram by driving analytical work critical to the area’s short- and long-term success. Our vision is to make Instagram everyone's personalized mall, leveraging its unique strengths — its large number of retail businesses and community of creators. This leader will oversee the Creation (supply) pillar for Instagram Shopping, giving sellers and creators the tools they need to drive their own success and focusing on 3 key areas - Production (formats, incentives, etc.), Promotion and Moments (drops, Live, etc.). We are looking for a leader with excellent product sense and analytical ability to drive informed product decisions. You are scrappy, focused on results, a self-starter, and have demonstrated success in using analytics to drive the understanding, progression, and user engagement of a product. This is a high-visibility role, so the ideal candidate has very strong communication skills and should be comfortable interfacing with leaders in a cross-functional capacity within a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.Key skills we’re looking for are: 1) Excellent communication, excellent at distilling complex information and communicating it clearly and concisely to executives, peers, and reports. 2) Experience managing, mentoring and growing other DS managers. This person will be an org leader who is comfortable, passionate, and experienced in mentoring and growing managers. 3) Optional, but bonus points — Experience in e-commerce, building two-sided marketplaces, and/or building consumer products at scale.

Required Skills:

  1. Set goals/metrics to guide and prioritize product roadmaps, generate new product directions, and perform as a strategic thought leader for the Data Science and cross-functional organizations.

  2. Maintain a high bar in terms of product thinking and analytical depth for your team through selective hiring and mentorship.

  3. Support and grow other data science managers and ICs.

  4. Lead high performing teams of data scientists to conduct analytics studies and experimentation to identify new product opportunities and shape product strategy.

  5. Manage and scale the Data Science function for Instagram Shopping products.

  6. Lead cross-functional and cross-team relationship building and collaboration with product and engineering teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 7+ years experience managing a team of analysts, data scientists.

  2. 7+ years of experience doing quantitative analysis.

  3. 7+ years of work experience managing analytics teams, working collaboratively with Engineering and cross-functional partners, and guiding data-influenced product planning, prioritization and strategy development.

  4. Experience in cross-functional partnership among teams of Engineering, Design, PM, Data Engineering.

  5. Experience initiating and driving projects to completion autonomously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in e-commerce, building two-sided marketplaces, and/or building consumer products at scale.
