VMware Customer Solutions Architect, Sustainability - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Boston, Massachusetts
The Office of the CTO is looking for a Customer Solutions Architect to be an ambassador and advisor for VMware’s 2030 Agenda (focused on sustainability, equity and trust).
The ideal candidate would be an experienced Solution Architect very familiar with VMware products, with excellent communication and collaboration skills. The candidate should have a track record of customer engagement experience and partnership with our engineering teams to prototype and develop solutions.
With a strong technical acumen, the candidate would develop customer requirements and collaborate with product management and engineering teams to design, build and advocate for solutions based on cloud native architectures and other advanced technologies that help customers enhance the sustainability of cloud operations.

Strong Customer Focus
Engagewith customersto understandtheir sustainability goals, prioritizeour top customer sustainability requirements, present solutions, and create an execution plan on immediate opportunities to create value.
Participate in architectural discussions with enterprise customers focused on VMware’s sustainability initiatives to align customer expectations with product roadmaps and strategy that advances VMware’s Multi-Cloud vision.
Develop our VBC(VMware Briefing Center)customer executivestrategy, presentation content, demos, and approach.
For Top Accounts, develop a strategyfor proliferation and upsell/cross-sellopportunities.
Sustainability Product /Service with a Saas Mindset Focus
Formulate a set of observations and recommendations to further our 2030 Agenda including but not limited to: workloadpower usage and carbon efficiency, zero carbon clouds, power and carbon transparency, resilience and security and product accessibility, and broader digital skills capabilities.
Establish credibility & build deep relationships with technical leaders within VMware and become trusted advocate of VMware’sESGinitiatives
Collaborate with OCTO, R&D to develop an integrated PCS sustainability system architecture and roadmapthat spans across various product roadmaps and R&D teams.
Beseen as an advisortothe VP ofESGandpartner to the Sustainability Innovation team, including close collaborationwiththe VMware’s Sustainable Software Solutions, Senior Staff Architect,engineering business groups, principal engineers, architects, product management, and other partners todefine and execute onthe sustainability roadmap for VMware products and cloud service offerings.
Partner withcustomer facing support and delivery teams(e.g., PSO, TAMs, CSMs) to develop offerings, talk tracks and tool kits.
Competitive Benchmarking & Analysis
Evaluate VMware public cloudsustainableofferings/solutions against key competitors (e.g.,Amazon, Azure and GCE sustainable public cloud initiatives)
Develop a POV andbusiness case around our future Sustainability product offeringsrelevant toourMulti-Cloudstrategy.
Engagement and Events
Identify internal/external events to showcase our Product capabilities and amplify our ESG messaging.
Collaborate with GTM teams to develop customer marketing and sales enablement programs and integrate sustainability into event messaging.
ESG Case Studies, Proof points and C ollateral
Partner with ESGOperationsto buildoutourField/Customercommunicationsand marketingstrategyand collateral–includingstories,case studies,GTM strategy, customer presentations, talk tracksacross our key stakeholders (employees, customers and investors).
Author blogs, technical articles or white papers focused on VMware’s ESG initiatives and successes.
Strong technical knowledge of VMware’sproduct offerings.
Experienced in IT infrastructure and Modern Application requirements
Ability to work closely with global VMware product teams and customers to identify and validate future, on-roadmap use cases and reference architectures.
Proven track record with a minimum of5years software/computer engineering experience.
Stronghistory and success with direct customer engagements,preferablywith long termcustomers with large data center deployments.
Two years or more in active development of Modern Applications and Functional Computing (e.g.,FaaS).
One year or more architecting and building production software products or integrated software solutions leveraging SRE and DevOps principles and tooling.
Container technologies (e.g., CRI/CNI/CSI, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry, etc.).
Knowledge in public cloud services platforms including Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
This job may require the candidate to comply with travel restrictions and/or work from a facility that requires full vaccination prior to entry. Further, depending on various factors, including legal challenges to the Executive Order on Ensuring Adequate COVID Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors, VMware may require employees to be fully vaccinated effective January 18, 2022.
