VMware Customer Community Operations Manager - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Boston, Massachusetts

The Elevator Pitch: Why will you enjoy this new opportunity?

The Business Operations Manager for the Tanzu Customer Advocacy programs position provides a unique opportunity to grow and perform in a highly strategic part of the Tanzu product marketing organization with direct sales pipeline influence. You will work closely with Customer Marketing, Product Marketing, VMware’s business units, and other key stakeholders to develop and manage programs within the community that drives digital transformation. In this role, you will run operational programs, projects, and processes to support Tanzu enterprise customers, through two distinguished programs, the Tanzu Vanguard superuser community, and the Tanzu User Groups. The team is growing and we are looking for a key member of the team to help us expand the growth and adoption of the Tanzu portfolio.

What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

We are searching for a business operation professional with experience in managing customer marketing programs and activities. Success in this role is defined as the following:

● Lead program operations for the Tanzu Vanguard, a 300+ superuser community for VMware’s most passionate cloud engineer customers Project managing multiple customer-driven marketing campaigns including: qualitative (surveys) and quantitative (1x1 interviews/focus group) research, tech video webinars, podcasts, blogs, and social media communication.

● Organize, plan, prepare, facilitate and promote weekly customer advocate meetings centered on VMware Tanzu products; Provide customer feedback from these meetings to help support VMware Tanzu product teams.

● Orchestrate efficient program development oftentimes presenting to stakeholder meetings, developing the documentation and communications plans for all cross-functional Vanguard projects.

● Plan and execute events for in-person and virtual trade shows.

● Lead and facilitate the Tanzu Customer user group program, a monthly virtual meeting, open to all VMware customers, where they can learn from each other and ultimately amplify Tanzu’s presence with user-driven content.

● Manage the Vanguard customer reference program and customer reward loyalty system.

● Partner with Product Marketing and Customer Marketing teams to leverage customers for external and internal activities.

● Manage a merchandising rewards fulfillment system to reward customers for their activities.

● Manage customer slack community channels.

● Relationship-building at all levels of the organization to drive influence, consensus and to ensure optimal adoption of our programs and processes.

● Collaborate with stakeholders across VMware to build the stories that matter—breaking down complex concepts into simple and clear terms.

● Stay on top of multiple project threads and collaborate with different business units, marketing teams, and sales—and assertively prioritize.

● Be a self-starter - this position will require you to constantly prioritize to work on planning upcoming projects, meetings and initiatives, in order to meet the goals of the company.

● Lead research to drive thought leadership that fuels white papers, webinars, awareness, and a reputation for VMware as a thought leader and information resource.

● Drive content experiments to capture new opportunities

What is leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

This role will report directly to the Head of Tanzu Customer Advocacy and be part of a small but growing team, which is part of a larger product marketing team that is globally geographically distributed. Our marketing is collaborative, agile, and constantly tuned to the needs of our customers and business.

Where is the role located?

This role is open to be fully remote and can be done anywhere in North America. If you live in Raleigh, North Carolina, or the surrounding area of the Raleigh VMware satellite office, then you will have the option to work from the office partly or fully if you wish to do so.
