Summary

Freeman is looking for a talented Creative Director to bring their skills and passion for experiential design (with a unique focus on storytelling via motion and content design for video, broadcast and keynote presentations) to an exciting and challenging role. At Freeman, you will work in interdisciplinary teams to create comprehensive, branded experiences in both physical and virtual environments. As Creative Director, your role centers around client engagements, conceptual development, innovation, execution, and presentation of creative projects and accounts. Creative Directors are project team leads within Creative & Design and are expected to provide guidance on best practices, deliver constructive feedback, and consistent mentorship to project team members. Candidates for this position must demonstrate the ability to see beyond explicit assignments and identify broader, long-term opportunities for our clients.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of experiential design for both in-person and digital event experiences.

  • Has a deep understanding of storytelling via animation/motion/presentation design for stage, video and broadcast content, from concept through development and execution.

  • Proven brand stewardship – partners with in-house and external teams in the development of brand guidelines developing forward-thinking concepts while ensuring brand adherence.

  • Ability to understand and participate in strategic conversations, executing complex projects with variable team sizes to create clear, compelling, and delightful results to all levels of stakeholders.

  • Leads project teams, plans and delegates assignments, manages schedules and deadlines generally involving larger and more high-profile projects or more than one project.

  • Exhibits well-developed leadership qualities and an ability to understand and collaborate across large, diverse project teams, client types and stakeholders from other disciplines such as Sales, Marketing, Operations and Fabrication.

  • Works within specified deadlines; edit and revise work based on stakeholder feedback.

  • Actively participates in studio crits, discovery sessions, and reviews.

  • Leads and mentors teams in the process of demonstrating conceptual, creative thinking and storytelling skills that are clear, compelling and delightful to all levels of stakeholders.

  • Oversees and manages the quality and accuracy of the design documentation, visual communication, and storytelling methodology and deliverables.

  • Assists with the review and evaluation of team's performance.

  • Acts as a liaison with other departments, divisions, and organizations. Evaluates and recommends major changes in processes and procedures.

  • Recommends creative budgets, respective expenditures, and project scope of work.

  • Reaches consensus on project deliverables with Sales and department managers and other team members. Ensures that the creative team delivers on the agreed upon scope.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a design field such as graphic design, multimedia/motion, experiential, broadcast, environmental and/or advertising.

  • Equivalent experience demonstrated by a strong portfolio showing proven industry leadership.

  • 10+ years of experience in a creative agency, corporate marketing environment, or design firm in applicable areas of content design such as broadcast, stage, and motion design with a strong portfolio of projects that demonstrates the design skills needed to produce high quality, innovative, user-centered experiences.

  • TV / Broadcast experience is a bonus. Passion for engaging programming, screen content, keynote stage presentations, motion design and brand experience, understanding hybrid content and how in-room and broadcast content work together.

  • 3+ years of experience leading a design team. Exhibits strong, confident leadership and the desire to mentor project team members.

  • Experience offering guidance, encouragement, and individual development and project feedback.
