The Corporate Communications Specialist will work within a world-class corporate communications and media relations team to elevate and protect the reputation of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts through proactive and reactive media and public relations.

Responsibilities
Media:
Draft and edit press releases
Build and maintain media lists
Develop proactive story ideas
Pitch news stories to local media outlets
Prepare talking points for media interviews
Coordinate media inquiries, including facilitating interviews
Secure strategic media placements
Maintain strong relationships with journalists at local/hyperlocal publications
Distill complex clinical info into consumer-friendly language
Research and write briefing materials
Manage media measurement, analysis and reporting via automated dashboard (Cision)
Corporate Communications:
Assist with managing disaster readiness and business continuity communications
Manage key team plan and messaging assets and collateral via Sharepoint
Manage meeting agendas, recaps, and email lists
Assist with Quarterly and Annual Divisional Reporting
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience at an agency or in-house communications role
Bachelors Degree required
Outstanding written and oral communications skills
Must-have experience:
Writing pitch emails
Pitching media and securing coverage
Conducting media research
Creating briefing materials for spokespeople
Creating coverage reports/summaries
Experience in drafting press releases and other media/prep content including fact sheets, Q&A documents, etc.
Experience with Cision, Meltwater or another top measurement tool required
Background in or knowledge of health care topics – payer, provider, pharmacy, etc. – preferred
Expertise in communicating diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives preferred
Ability to understand complex subject matter will be critical
Strong business writing capabilities
A small portion of the candidate’s time will be spent on corporate communications administrative management such as creating agendas and meeting reports
Ability to multi-task with several projects
