Corporate Communications Lead, Plasma-Derived Therapies Business Unit

Cambridge, MA

OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

The PDT Corporate Communications Lead will be a key facilitator of the PDT global communications strategy, with a focus on extending the PDT narratives to both internal and external stakeholders. An integral member of the PDT Corporate Affairs team, this individual will drive multi-channel program execution, as well as serve as an important liaison and advisor for cross-functional PDT and cross-Takeda colleagues on communications objectives. The Communications Lead will be based in Cambridge reporting to the Head of PDT Global Corporate and Portfolio Communications and will liaise regularly with the PDT Corporate Affairs teams based in Switzerland and Illinois.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Acts as a steward of the PDT global corporate communications strategy, identifying multi-channel communications opportunities to extend the PDT BU narratives to our key audiences.

  • Supports story mining and execution of core PDT thought leadership and corporate reputation initiatives.

  • Develops and executes a comprehensive digital and social media strategy for PDT and serves as the primariy liaison with Data Digital and Technology (DD&T) teams. Partners with Takeda Global Corporate Affairs to find synergies and identify opportunities.

  • Leads internal storytelling and associated initiatives, including town halls, to continue to build employee knowledge, pride and support for the PDT business and its contribution to Takeda.

  • Engages with the media community to shape educated and balanced media coverage about the plasma industry and Takeda’s leadership.

  • Manages and builds the external communications asset library; partners with the appropriate internal parties to garner content and review.

  • Supports Head of Global Corporate and Portfolio Communications on issues management and messaging for subjects related to PDT, consulting with the Public Affairs and other Takeda PDT colleagues, as well as the global and US corporate media relations teams.

  • Serves as an advisor for cross-functional colleagues on communications execution and supports ad hoc needs.

  • Supports PDT investor-related communications activities, including preparation for corporate earnings presentations and investor events.

  • Proactively collaborates on and/or augments external communications activities across Takeda Corporate, as well as serves as a point of contact for LOC communicators regarding PDT-related external communications initiatives.

  • Acts as a daily contact for external communications agencies, and serves as a liaison for internal coordination and reporting on agency-related inititives. ​

  • Basic experience in issues preparation and management of media/public facing reputational risks.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelors degree – BS/BA; Majors in Journalism, Communications preferred.

  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience required at a corporation or consultancy with experience in corporate communications and media relations, preferably within the healthcare environment and in pharma/biotech specifically

  • Well-versed in media relations at local/national level with the ability to form media relationships as needed.

  • Results-oriented focus in proactive campaign execution and experience with issues management

  • Creative thinker who can problem solve and deliver solutions using strong judgment; able to make decisions in a timely fashion and escalate when required.

  • Dynamic, team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills who reflects Takeda and its values.

  • Ability to convene and manage teams, align voices and influence without authority to achieve priority team objectives.

  • Confident counsellor for cross-functional colleagues, comfortable in providing guidance on external engagement strategies.

  • Self-starter who can work under pressure with conflicting priorities and work to tight deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.

  • Critical skillsets: presentation skills, crisp verbal and written communications, project management abilities, strategic planning and results oriented.

  • Maintains absolute confidentiality.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$149,100.00 - $234,300.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
