Job Summary:The Content Writer plays an essential role on the content team, using their research, interviewing and writing abilities to create engaging, consumer-focused copy for a range of corporate and campaign deliverables, including web copy, advertising, blog posts, marketing collateral and more. This individual will have the opportunity to work with some of the leading researchers and health care experts in their field in order to produce engaging, accurate, consistent and compelling content to use across multiple channels ¿ both print and digital. Conduct thorough research on industry-related topics and consumer behaviors, generating ideas for new content types. Participate in the development and execution of a strategic content calendar for the system's content properties. Partner with the content team to ensure an effective and efficient workflow for producing and distributing content across various channels.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Works with internal clients and subject matter experts to create compelling content for the system's various platforms and ensure adherence with branding guidelines.

  • Develop and create content that support system initiatives through blog posts, content articles, web copy, marketing collateral, and more.

  • Research industry-related topics (combining online sources, interviews and studies).

  • Write clear marketing copy to promote our products/services. Ensure all-around consistency (style, fonts, images and tone). Update website content as needed.

  • Participates in ongoing implementation of SEO recommendations and works to ensure SEO best practices are properly implemented.

  • Understands internal clients' goals and marketing plans and work with them to research, develop, and write appropriate and engaging content.

  • Develops strong working relationships with team members, internal clients, and departments throughout the system.

  • Coordinates multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • 1-3 years related work experience required in 2 to 3 years of Marketing & Communications with demonstrated experience writing for multiple forms of media, and varying audiences and channels..

  • Requires excellent interviewing, reporting, writing and editing skills; must possess strong interpersonal skills as well as technical skills.

  • Experience with the editorial process, working with clients and team members to refine copy, ensure accruacy and gain approval.

  • Must be willing to travel between the various Beth Israel Lahey Health sites to capture real-time stories and content at affiliate hospitals and organizations.

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of multimedia content creation and associated tools such as Adobe Photoshop, iMovie.

  • Independence of Action:Ability to follow general instructions and procedures as provided. Work is monitored by supervisor/manager.

  • Written Communications:Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers.

  • Oral Communications:Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.

  • Knowledge:Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.

  • Team Work:Ability to interact respectfully with other employees, professional staff and/or external contacts to offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information or deliver services.

  • Customer Service:Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Physical Nature of the Job:

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling objects. Sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally
