State of Massachusetts Consumer Programs Coordinator in Boston, Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation (OCABR), through education and advocacy, empowers consumers to make well-informed decisions. We also work to ensure that the businesses our agencies regulate treat consumers fairly.

OCABR is seeking a team player to fill the position of Consumer Programs Coordinator. This employee will collaborate with our consumer hotline staff in responding to a wide variety of inquiries by phone, email, mail and walk-in. The Consumer Programs Coordinator will utilize their marketing skills to draft newsletters, advisories, brochures, presentations and other consumer education materials. S/he will support OCABR consumer programs by reviewing online applications, maintaining accurate reporting databases and working on special projects within the Agency. Administrative duties include drafting correspondence, creating spreadsheets, maintaining files, archiving network data, and posting items on the OCABR intranet.

The ideal candidate will be fluent in Spanish and have exceptional customer service skills. A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, or 1-2 years of work experience in a marketing setting, is preferred. The successful candidate will have graphic design experience and be proficient in PowerPoint and Adobe Creative Suite. Attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects and the ability to meet deadlines are essential.

SALARY PLACEMENT IS DETERMINED BY YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE POSITION AND THE HUMAN RESOURCES DIVISION’S RECRUITING GUIDELINES. IN THE CASE OF A PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITY, THE SALARY PROVISIONS OF THE APPLICABLE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WILL APPLY TO (OR WILL BE UTILIZED FOR) PLACEMENT WITHIN THE SALARY RANGE.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

Substitutions:

I. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.*

II. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.*

*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
