Communication Design Lead, Experience Design

As a Communication Design Lead you will
Collaborate with teams to bring stories, products, services, and experiences to life. You will be a storyteller and problem solver, designing presentations that thoughtfully and powerfully communicate a message—working with leadership to visualize ideas and abstract concepts. You will be responsible for communicating the vision and thought leadership of the organization both internally and externally through engaging presentations. You will also spearhead a design system for the Experience Design organization, including templates and materials for presentations, design artifacts, and design thinking workshops. You’ll need strong strategy and design chops, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and work with minimal guidance.
Partner with the Experience Design leadership team on design and execution of executive presentations
Know how to turn an idea into a clear, visually compelling story via multiple assets (presentation design, graphic design, animation/video, etc.)
Offer fresh, creative ideas and clever approaches to visual storytelling, while balancing the ability to complete great work on time
Lead the storytelling and create compelling visual narratives of our work, clearly communicating user stories and our strategic solutions
Translate complex ideas and concepts into easy-to-understand, compelling visuals, human centered designs, and stories. Bring ideas to life that inspire, engage and motivate our design teams, our partners, and customers.
Proactively spot opportunities to up level the narrative and/or visuals, and jump in to get your hands dirty to make it happen
Design and maintain a visual system that will scale across all of our design artifacts and templates
Make sense of complex org. charts, business flows and data via information and data visualization design
Be an advocate for exceptional visual design
Help partners empathize with customers by creating deliverables that tell a compelling story
Consult and provide guidance on visual storytelling approach
Work across teams to ensure a consistent narrative and visual system for Experience Design initiatives
You’re a person who (required skills)
10+ years of relevant work experience on a design team, either as part of an agency or an in-house product-oriented team
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, communications design, or an equivalent degree
Expert working knowledge of Keynote, PowerPoint, Adobe CS (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Sketch
Strong portfolio that demonstrates problem solving skills, attention to detail, and a diverse set of successful design solutions
A strong demonstrable foundation in strong information and visualization, typography, composition, color theory, and a passion for visual design across a breadth of media
Ability to tackle a diverse and complex set of design challenges and recognize patterns to helpdevelop creative andstrategic solutions
A gifted storyteller who can balance design and aesthetics with business goals
Experience in visually communicating an abstract idea or concept
Strategic thinking and the ability to explain the rationale behind your design decisions
You are a clear communicator and you demonstrate a point of view with an ability to talk about your work
Active listener and patient partner. You’re someone who can hear and understand feedback easily, and turn it into a well-crafted final product

Strong knowledge of user interface and experience design
Broad experience in design strategy and storytelling

XD Principal is responsible for research, design, prototyping, or producing digital experiences. Works with product, marketing, LOBs, technology, and other organizations. Functional responsibilities may include primary and secondary research or information architecture, interaction, visual, editorial, motion and other design work or prototyping and implementing design tools or coordinating, producing, and managing XD-related work.
XD Principals lead ideation, innovation, XD target state systems, strategic initiatives, and new high-level solutions.
Typically has 10+ years of XD experience.
Reports to XD Manager, XD Director, or XD Executive.
