Remote : This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. This position requires an employee travel up to 75% within the United States & Candidate, and to be onsite in Warren, Michigan up to 6 times per year.

We are seeking to hire Commercial Sales Manager, Energy Assets to join the GM Energy Stationary Storage team. Key responsibilities of the role include leading a small team to prospect new sales, qualify leads, maintain/grow sales pipeline, drive bookings, revenue, and profitability, maintain CRM, and develop new growth strategies for the entire Commercial Energy Assets portfolio.

This position will lead a small team of sales professionals and report to the Head of Commercial, Energy Assets.

Summary of Responsibilities

You will be responsible for commercial energy product sales with particular focus on large B2B opportunities (E.g., land development projects). You will examine current sales strategies and develop and implement new strategies to improve upon current results and/or to meet new business goals. You will work closely with the strategy team to develop business development strategies, align cross functional teams & leadership on new strategies, and help to prepare and present customer & leadership presentations. You have a passion to create the best possible customer experience and are driven to always respond to customer needs and provide technical support.

Dimension of the Role

The Commercial Sales Manager will be a high-energy, creative thinker that is interested in the cutting edge of the energy industry. The successful candidate will have experience in B2B sales, technical sales support, and relationship management. He/she will work closely with Product Owner(s) to define the best commercial approach across relevant markets and business segments. The Sales Manager will also interface with internal stakeholders such as Purchasing, Marketing, Strategy, Legal, and Privacy teams to align corporate processes to deliver the ideal customer experience. He/she will be required to liaise transversally with other global and/or local partners (incl. energy companies, public utilities, other auto OEMs etc.) to develop growth activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop qualified sales opportunities from named accounts

  • Manage named accounts by solving possible issues that may arise during the sales process including technical support

  • Lead the process of understanding and solving customer needs and share them with other teams

  • Develop technical sales documentation, sales strategy, and business plan for named accounts

  • Establish sustainable and long-term relationships with key executives in named accounts through seamless customer experience

  • Create proposal and contract templates and support project designs, including definition, clarify and optimization of technical terms and product features to support contract negotiations

  • Leverage strategic sales methodology to advance qualified sales opportunities to signed contracts to achieve bookings targets

  • Work with sales reps to visit customers and conduct presentations

  • Actively manage sales pipeline, maintain robust sales plans and accurate sales forecast

  • Leverage an entrepreneurial mindset to solve complex problems, with solutions tailored for each commercial customer

  • Collaborate with marketing teams to enhance brand recognition and drive sales

  • Collaborate with leaders and peers on go-to-market strategies to launch products and target customer segments

  • Provide ongoing feedback to product & engineering teams to drive product enhancements that reflect "Voice of the Customer"

  • Execute best practices and disseminate know-how across the team

Additional Job Description

Required Skills / Experience / Education

  • 10+ years of previous sales experience managing customer engagement and relationships, including demonstration of a customer service mindset

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or similar field

  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or business field is a plus

  • Experience in Energy industry is a plus

  • Proven track record of consistent sales quota attainment

  • Experience in Technical sales is a plus

  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision

  • Excellent writing & presentation skills

  • Effective communication skills to work closely with others from different backgrounds

  • Flexible and agile approach to manage stakeholders and potential customers in different time zones

  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment

  • Ability to influence and gain "buy-in" from skeptics

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced start-up technology environment is essential

  • Must be able to travel up to 75% within the United States and Canada

Compensation:

  • The expected base compensation for this role is: $112,142 – $175,401 USD Annual

  • Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
