About the Lead, eCommerce Analytics Position

The qualified candidate will be an analytics and tag management expert tasked with implementing, maintaining and interpreting web analytics and other tracking on B2B and B2C ecommerce client websites.  The role requires knowledge and understanding of all aspects of digital marketing, particularly with regard to data, web analytics, tag management, and datalayers with especially good working experience of ecommerce tracking.

In this role, you will need to understand digital analytics platforms (i.e. Google Analytics, Matomo, Adobe Analytics, etc.), have the skills necessary to implement those platforms and associated tracking via tag management platforms (i.e. Google Tag Manager, Tealium, ADM, etc.), and understand data collection and consolidation practices to tell a story with data.

You must know how to determine if a platform is performing properly to collect user data, how to analyze that data, how to extrapolate the information, how to present the information, and how to connect all the pieces of a story for better optimization and conversions moving forward.

You will support Verndale’s marketing services offerings. You must be comfortable and capable of executing a variety of web analytics and digital marketing tasks, as well as utilizing a variety of marketing technology tools to support and analyze those efforts.

This role also requires experience leveraging data visualization applications to create dashboards across data sources to tell a robust digital marketing story, utilizing data visualization software (i.e. Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI)

Responsibilities

  • Host client workshops and facilitate conversations to determine business, digital, and project goals - and from there identify relevant data sources and KPIs for reporting on success

  • Plan/structure and implement analytics configurations for Google Analytics including Google Analytics 4 (GA4) via Google Tag Manager via a well-documented process

  • Implement tracking and other data via tag management systems (GTM) while working with developers as needed for custom tracking and datalayers for both B2B and B2C sites

  • Provide performance dashboards tailored to difference audiences based on the team’s marketing savviness to deliver actionable insights and recommendations

  • Analyze attribution and contributions to the business across multiple channels to advise on resource allocation, and overall task prioritization for analytics focused updates

  • Maintain up to date understanding of consent laws and PII, as well as provide high level guidance to clients (we are not legal advisors but tell our clients when to consult with theirs)

  • Contribute to the vision and roadmap for the analytics services at Verndale as the company expands and matures

    Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ agency experience implementing and configuring web analytics and ecommerce tracking (GA4, Universal Analytics, Adobe, etc.) deployed via tag management systems (GTM, Tealium, etc.) in a multi-channel ecommerce environment

  • Familiarity with eCommerce platforms such as Optimizely B2B/Sitecore and Salesforce B2B, Big Commerce etc

  • Proficiency working with Google Analytics GA4, Google Tag Manager, Looker (Data Studio)

  • Strong data analysis skills supported by experience in dashboard creation using Excel, Tableau, PowerBI, Datorama etc

  • Understanding of and some experience with foundational ecommerce customer analytics concepts like LTV, funnel analysis, attribution modeling, CRO

  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in written/presentation formats to client and technical/dev teams

  • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves - especially as it relates to AI

  • Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with CDPs (customer data platforms)

  • Experience with jira, confluence and project management tools

  • Experience using programming and query languages such as Python, SQL or R

  • Experimentation or A/B testing exposure

  • SEO work experience

  • Personalization planning exposure
