Microsoft Corporation Business Program Manager in Boston, Massachusetts

The Strategy team for Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions drives the development and execution of the Commercial strategy and field operating model. This includes how the organization benefits customers and partners, enabling MCAPS to support them more effectively, efficiently, and with competitive differentiation. The team builds the connective tissue across MCAPS Leadership and MCB (Marketing & Consumer Business) to gain alignment and leverage existing capabilities, while empowering our people to be nimble, agile, successful, and thrilled to work for Microsoft.

A key element to a successful strategy is the ability to implement, assess effectiveness and adapt. This Project Management Director role will be accountable for delivery of a portfolio of strategic initiatives from scoping to completion. This includes delivering the highly complex projects that cross organizational boundaries and working with teams to identify success metrics enabling tracking of ROI and driving decisions points on further investment. Individuals must be capable of moving teams from ambiguous goals to a clear work breakdown structure (WBS), planning and delivering large, complex and high-risk projects, leading resources from across the company with clarity and energy and ultimately delivering results.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead and drive high impact, cross-org projects.

  • Help build our PMO infrastructure to support longer term strategic initiatives.

  • Ensure we have the right processes and measurements in place to both measure RoI and help set our future direction.

  • Collaborate and partner with segment teams, field sales leaders and product marketing.

  • Understand the project vision and timelines to ensure delivery happens in line with business requirements and manage communication within and across project teams proactively identify risks and mitigations.

  • Provides increased transparency and integration across all groups.

  • Strives for excellence in project and process-based work, simplifying processes without compromising outcomes.

  • Managing schedules for collaborating with team members to track milestone deliverables and drive project execution

  • Strategic thinking (long term, preventative risk mitigation) and orchestration of complex support planning.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years related business and project management experience.

  • Proven experience and expertise in successful execution of large-scale and/or enterprise agile Program Management across geographies.

  • Strong communication, community and program management skills and experience

  • Strong self-motivation andability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Demonstrated ability to develop communication strategy and execution plans.

  • Problem-solving ability, especially in gathering data to drive decision making under stringent timelines

  • The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and manage ambiguity

  • Strong oral and written communication,organization,and interpersonal skills

  • Highly adaptable, and strong collaborator, fierce advocate and influencer

  • Experience of designing, building and executing highly successful programs at scale .

  • Communicating with clarity: Experience communicating complex, ongoing business data and insights across a large set of stakeholders and turning those insights into action.

  • Creating alignment across organizations: Experienced collaborating across different disciplines including finance, marketing, sales, and engineering to align to shared goals.

  • Strategic thinking and influence: Proven track record of identifying organizational opportunities, driving strategy and design, and influencing senior leaders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Project Management Professional™ (PMP or Certified Scrum Professional ™ (CSP) preferred.

The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $125,000 and $187,700.

At Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
