Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Intellectual Property team is looking for a seasoned business development executive who may lead licensing transactions and establish strategic collaborations with third parties resulting in licensing income. Primary responsibility will be in support of our IBM systems and storage technologies and solutions. The business development executive will be responsible for identifying a pipeline of potential opportunities, identifying potential partners, establishing client contacts (leveraging the broader IBM), organizing client briefings, delivering technical statement of work documents, structuring financial deal proposals, negotiating agreements, and maintaining client relationships.
Achievement of goals requires working closely with the IBM Systems and Storage team to understand the various technologies, understanding potential client’s business objectives and structuring deals to maximize value for both the client and IBM. This is an opportunity to engage directly with key industry partners to develop long term relationships and strategies for on-going business benefit. This role supports IBM's intellectual property income goals and will have a direct impact on IBM’s bottom line.

Close intellectual property deals and realize intellectual property income goals; drive deals to close by engaging required internal and external teams thru deal completion
Structure licensing offerings from IBM’s intellectual property optimizing financial benefits and meeting business objectives
Offer subject matter expertise and deepening understanding for IBM Systems and Storage technologies to support licensing offering development and alignment with IBM business objectives
Establish relationships and engage with target clients to support opportunity pipeline and on-going relationships
Identify new opportunities by analyzing industry strategies, technology shifts and business changes
Required Professional and Technical Expertise
10+ plus years business development and / or client engagement experience
10+ years technology industry experience with a strong preference for general systems, storage technologies and electrical/computer engineering knowledge
10+ years direct client engagement experience with CxO audiences and executive communication skills
Deal negotiation and complex contract negotiation experience
10+ years project management experience, ability to multi-task and flexibility with varying priorities based on the needs of the business
Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise
- Bachelor degree with preference for engineering, software, or related scientific field; a master’s degree or doctorate preferred
