PLEASE NOTE: This position can be filled at either the Business Development Specialist I - POD (BDS I) or Business Development Specialist II - POD (BDS II) level - please see below for position compensation, details, and requirements. Constellation is seeking candidates who are within a commutable distance of offices in Boston, Baltimore, Houston or Chicago for in-person meetings or events.
BDS I - POD Expected salary range of $55,250 to $65,000 , varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
BDS II - POD Expected salary range of $57,800 to $68,000 , varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
BDS I POD - PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Business Development Specialist I is responsible for the ownership of customer and account data accuracy and integrity in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, while providing technical support to the sales and account management team within the POD. This position also serves as the point of contact and liaison with other functional groups for pre-deal related issues in the sales cycle.
BDS II POD - PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Business Development Specialist II - POD is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of customer and account data in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. This role provides advanced technical support to the sales and account management team within the POD and serves as the primary liaison with other functional groups for pre-deal related issues in the sales cycle.
BDS I POD - PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Data Entry and Maintenance. Create opportunities, offers, and pricing scenarios to support transactions. Ensure accuracy and integrity of customer data in the CRM system. Maintain data accuracy for any changes in customer information, such as ownership changes. Establish and maintain account hierarchy within the record system. Handle non-standard requests and become proficient in addressing them.
Utility Knowledge. Provide data and technical support to Business Development Managers (BDMs) and Account Managers (AMs) with a strong understanding of regional utility requirements.
Communication. Receive and respond to Request for Proposals (RFPs) primarily via email. Act as the liaison between sales and other functional groups during the data validation process and contract execution. Coordinate with pricing and legal teams for non-standard requests.
Process Improvements. Assist with ad hoc requests for process improvements, such as clean-up projects, new hire training, development of process efficiencies, and system testing.
Travel required as necessary to meet business needs.
In-person attendance for trainings, team meetings, and other moments that matter.
BDS II POD - PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Utility, Market, Lead Source, Product Knowledge. Independently determine appropriate data points to generate energy prices and contracts. Collaborate on product components and appropriate margin when creating opportunities to support request for pricing. Demonstrate a strong understanding of requirements across multiple utilities and the impact on customers, channel partners, and the organization. Manage non-standard requests and coordinate with pricing and legal teams as needed.
Communication (Internal and External). Communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally, with external parties. Interact with prospects, customers, channel partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and up-to-date customer data in the CRM system. Send pricing and contracts directly to channel partners and customers.
Data Analytics and Management. Evaluate current and historical account information, lead source, market, and product to determine the best account structure and options. Provide advanced data and technical support to Business Development Managers, Account Managers, and external customers. Ensure data accuracy in the CRM system, handling complex changes in customer data (e.g., ownership changes, splits, name changes). Establish and maintain account hierarchy within the system of record and create various pricing scenarios.
Process Improvements. Advocate for system enhancements and participate in process improvement efforts. Support cleanup projects, contribute to new hire training, and develop process efficiencies. Conduct ongoing testing and enhancements to ensure system effectiveness.
Coverage Support. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the responsibilities of other team members to ensure seamless coverage during absences.
Mentorship. Serve as an internal resource and initial escalation point for resolving challenges during the data validation process. Act as a liaison between Sales, internal functional groups, customers, and channel partners to facilitate communication and coordination throughout the data validation process and contract execution.

BDS I POD - MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite products
Strong written and oral communication skills, enabling effective teamwork and rapport with employees and customers
Analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and independent decision-making
Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal customers
Flexibility in managing multiple daily deadlines
BDS II POD - MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience
Highly proficient in Microsoft Suite products
Exceptional written and oral communication skills, fostering effective teamwork and rapport with employees and customers
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and independent decision-making
Ability to effectively build and maintain relationships with internal customers
Flexibility in managing multiple daily deadlines
BDS I/II POD - PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree (4-year degree)
