The opportunity

At Manulife, we are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as AVP, Retirement Product. In this role, you will lead a team of experienced product managers in the development and ongoing enhancements of offerings for John Hancock retirement clients. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the finance/insurance industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Foster and guide strategic vision; develop and implement highly complex and integrated project portfolio across various client segments to support the growth plans of the retirement business.

  • Work collaboratively with product management colleagues, technology, project office, finance, operations, and marketing teams to successfully deliver on project roadmap, strategic vision, and enhanced client service capabilities.

  • Partner across product development and with functional experts to plan and implement large- and small-scale projects that modernize the business’s overall capabilities for serving all customers (sponsors, advisors, TPAs, and participants) in a way that delivers expected benefits within annual budgets.

  • Work to establish a continuous subject matter expertise, with a specific focus on core record-keeping platforms and adjust project portfolio considering trends and forces shaping the industry and advancements in record-keeping functionality.

Reporting to the head of US Retirement Product, this role will provide guidance and knowledge on retirement solutions with a thorough understanding of effective approaches and implementation of record-keeping functionality. What we are looking for:

  • Bachelors’ degree and 10+ years of experience in the retirement industry.

  • Ability to lead working in agile methodology. SAFe specific experience is an asset.

  • Dynamic and forward-thinking individual who consistently strives for impactful solutions.

  • Previous leadership experience; leading teams in diverse environments is a plus.

  • Extensive knowledge of the retirement industry, competitive dynamics, and trends.

  • Knowledge of the ERISA and FINRA regulatory environment and guidelines.

  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across an organization.

  • Demonstrated experience managing internal and external relationships.

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Salary range is expected to be between

$148,400.00 USD - $275,500.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
