WBUR's Product and Audience Insights team is responsible for growing and engaging audiences across WBUR platforms. A team of seven, it is comprised of product managers, engineers, data analysts, and data architects, with the goal of optimizing the audience experience for all WBUR listeners. The team leads and supports initiatives across the organization including data analysis for all platforms, migration to and optimization of Salesforce, newsletters, mobile app, authoring tools, digital infrastructure reliability, planning and executing audience communication across channels, and more.

We are looking for an Audience Campaign Manager who will have the primary responsibility of overseeing and implementing the delivery of automated and strategic communication from Salesforce Marketing Cloud. This is a new role at WBUR, and your initial focus will be to work with various departments to identify and build audience segments and then operationalize communication delivery in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, which will be implemented in the coming months.

The primary function of your role will be to develop and deploy integrated audience communication campaigns. This work will include crafting strategy, aligning WBUR teams, developing audience segments, building Salesforce email communication journeys, leading and executing funnel strategy, and measuring results. The first phase of this work will be to coordinate with each team to prioritize top segments in Salesforce and create communication journeys in Marketing Cloud. This role will report to the Associate Director, Product Management on WBUR’s Product and Audience Insights team.

Essential Functions:

  • (30%) Work with internal teams to develop personas for segmentation in Salesforce Marketing Cloud as foundations for our communications efforts, personas that allow us to deliver personalized communications by offering our audience content that matters to them. Work cross-functionally with all team collaborators to optimize digital audience touch points – such as email, website messaging, mobile app notifications, direct mail and SMS.

  • (30%) Build and optimize communication journeys in Salesforce Marketing Cloud that can be leveraged across editorial, membership, events, and marketing teams to ensure efficiency and lessen duplicative efforts. Create and manage funnel campaigns — monitoring effectiveness along each journey — with an eye toward revenue (donation, event ticket sales, and more). Contribute to the promotion and appreciation of these personas and automated Salesforce Marketing Cloud journeys.

  • (25%) Drive a culture of defining success — measuring performance and providing continuous feedback through analysis and reporting tools. Define success metrics, track accordingly, and adapt (or advise on adapting) campaigns as needed. Proactively manage issues and risks. Keeping a close eye on every detail and providing clear accountability and communication when issues arise.

  • (10%) Communicate with collaborators, including creating clear presentations for leadership that summarize the status of our communication efforts and value of personas and journeys.

  • (5%) Maintain understanding of relevant applications and/or infrastructure technologies. Stay current on relevant technology capabilities and best practices and communicate key capabilities and opportunities to teams.

Required Skills

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent/relevant experience

  • Up to 5 years of Salesforce Marketing Cloud experience or equivalent with demonstrated experience in managing complex technology deployments.

  • Experience with multi-channel automated communication.

    Capabilities and Proficiencies:

  • An excitement about WBUR’s mission to provide an essential public good: high-quality journalism and enriching experiences that foster understanding, connection and community.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to understand detailed requirements and communicate the creative vision, concepts, ideas, and solutions clearly, and effectively to collaborators and cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to balance competing demands and prioritize as needed to reach KPIs around engagement and revenue.

  • Ability to analyze project areas and components on a micro and macro level, draw logical inferences, and contribute/communicate insights including broader operational opportunities to fully optimize WBUR’s investment in Salesforce.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to see ahead of needs and anticipate requirements and opportunities.

  • Ability to facilitate discussions to arrive at comprehensive decisions.

  • Thrives at a high pace, with a calm and composed mindset and approach to challenges.

  • SQL experience a plus.
