Merck Associate Director, US Marketing, HIV Pipeline (Remote) in Boston, Massachusetts

Job Description

The Associate Director, US Marketing, HIV Pipeline will play a critical role in the US commercial development of our company's pipeline assets in HIV treatment and PrEP. The person in this role will be primarily responsible for leading US commercial assessments and informing clinical development plans for earlier stage pipeline assets. Ideally, the candidate will have in-depth knowledge of the US market, strong scientific acumen, and experience in developing marketing strategy for new products. Knowledge of the US market is a plus but not required. The Associate Director will report directly to the Executive Director, US Marketing HIV Inline and Pipeline and will interface frequently with members of the HIV Global Marketing team.

This position is location agnostic.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop initial US commercial strategy for pipeline of launch products in HIV treatment and PrEP

  • Interface directly with global and regional marketing, market research, US Payer marketing, GMAX, our research division, medical affairs and others on Early Commercial Teams (ECT)

  • Lead the collection of customer insights and engage with scientific leaders to uncover customer needs and drive strategy

  • Inform target product profile and clinical development plans as part of ECT

  • Assess future competitive landscape

  • Inform stage-gate and development plan Go/No go decisions

  • Lead completion of L3 commercial framework for US market

  • Engage with extended team to lead development of sales forecasts and business evaluations for the US market

  • Engage with US inline marketing team to ensure portfolio alignment

Education Minimum Requirements:

  • Required: BA/BS

  • Preferred: MBA/MS

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Proven ability to lead across diverse stakeholders

  • Demonstrates high degree of integrity and ethics

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Self-starter and problem-solver

Preferred Experience and Skills :

  • Previous demonstrated work developing brand strategies

  • Demonstrated scientific acumen

  • New product marketing experience

  • In-depth knowledge of US market

  • Knowledge of US HIV market

  • Comfort with ambiguity
