Job Description

This position provides project management and leadership skills necessary to drive the operational model for the global, cross-functional, cross-divisional teams engaged in Oncology Search and Evaluation Business Development (BD) activities, as well as project management expertise for ad hoc cross functional organizational priorities & deliverables

  • Responsibilities include integrated BD Core Team planning & process management; Designing and planning solutions to achieve successful operational execution; driving the team to achieve clarity on issues and focus on effective contingencies; interfacing with management and influencing decision-making in order to enhance team effectiveness and efficiency,

  • The Associate Director works closely together with the Oncology Business Unit (OBU) cross functional project team members, provides project management leadership on individual BD projects to ensure execution of OBU deliverables in alignment with broader cross-functional project plans;

  • Identifies and drives innovative process improvements with significant organizational impact and takes on, as needed, non-BD responsibilities, which can include project management processes and systems to support OBU program management and operational excellence.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Partners with BD leadership to lead and manage the global, cross-functional OBU BD operating model through understanding and definition of priority focus areas necessary to deliver on enterprise wide BD strategy.

  • Leads the project planning efforts of the BD Search and Evaluation team, BD Core Team, and senior leadership review meetings by defining team priorities in alignment with organizational BD, Commercial & R&D strategies

  • Facilitates above-referenced meetings. Develops meetings agendas and materials to enable key discussions and decisions

  • Document, distribute, track and archive relevant meeting materials including minutes, decisions & action items

  • Manage and/or oversee team sites and databases, enabling centralized access to materials, collaboration on shared documents & efficient action item tracking

  • Designs and implements best practices and process improvements to continuously refine and optimize the BD operating model

  • Partners with the cross functional team members to provide financial oversight for OBU BD tactical expenditures, including consolidation, vetting and prioritization of spending risks and opportunities

  • Continuously and efficiently manages stakeholders at various levels and across functions. Ensures all stakeholders are involved as appropriate.

  • Provides project management leadership for individual BD projects in partnership with cross functional project leads

  • Identifies interdependencies and connections between functions and departments, ensuring integrated end to end visibility, communication and alignment within OBU and across the integrated project teams.

  • Drives cross functional OBU team deliverables for project completion. Proactively identifies potential issues or obstacles and achieves resolution or plans contingencies and follows issues through to resolution ensuring that all cross functional team issues arrive at a singular conclusion or recommendation.

  • Tracks critical path and works to identify opportunities to accelerate the project execution where possible while maintaining high quality standards.

  • Addresses and resolves challenges, keeping OBU functional leadership informed of critical considerations (e.g., resources, performance concerns). Provides clarity and direction in urgent or unexpected situations.

  • Leads the project risk management process; actively participates in problem solving to resolve issues and to address competing priorities that may impact achievement of goals, and drives mitigation plans and resolution.

  • Manages project performance reporting, including scheduled as well as ad-hoc updates.

  • As a member of the OBU PMO, provides program management expertise beyond BD initiatives to ad hoc, priority organizational projects, as identified:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree science or business-related field

  • 8 + years of pharmaceutical industry experience required

  • 5 to 7 years experience as a project manager leading complex pharmaceutical projects in a multi-disciplinary, global environment

  • Minimum of 5 years people management experience (direct or indirect) and/or proven leadership experience with a global, matrix team.

  • Demonstrated previous experience as a project manager leading complex pharmaceutical project deliverables in a multi-disciplinary, global environment

  • Proven leadership skills and strategic problem-solving ability

  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and present key information objectively and collaborate effectively with management

  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely communicate/ prepare presentations for management

  • Project leadership and management skills with strong influencing skills are required

  • Experience in intercultural cooperation

  • Ability to foster teamwork by actively participating in and supporting an environment that cultivates professional growth and organizational effectiveness.

  • Ability to independently identify issues and to propose and execute on suitable resolutions

  • Ability to establish impactful improvements to cross-functional processes which impact cross-functional teams

  • Ability to drive decision-making within a cross-functional and cross-cultural, global team structure

  • Ability to work in a highly complex, multi-cultural, often stressful environment

  • Highly effective communications skills – written and verbal

  • Management of multiple tasks of varied complexity simultaneously

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Highly effective presentation skills – create and deliver presentations with appropriate messaging and focused recommendations

  • Smartsheet or similar project management tool, Excel, PowerPoint & Word

  • Ability to accommodate occasional non-standard work hours due to Global teams working in multiple time zones

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous drug development experience is preferred (e.g. Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Regulatory, CMC, or other development related function)

  • Project Management Professional certification with PMI desired

  • Business Development and/or alliance/partner management experience highly preferred

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$149,100.00 - $234,300.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
