Alexion Pharmaceuticals Associate Director, Investor Relations in Boston, Massachusetts

Position Summary

Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is seeking an Associate Director, Investor Relations (AD/IR), reporting to the Leader, IR (L/IR). The AD/IR will support the initiatives of the L/IR through investor focused research, logistics, and development of materials. The AD/IR will also develop collaborative and productive relationships internally that result in a deep understanding of Alexion and the facts, details and trends that are relevant to the investment community. In addition, the AD/IR will develop strong external relationships with the investment community and be able to successfully communicate financial and strategic information that supports investment decision-making.

Principal Responsibilities

The AD/IR will personally:

  • Support the IR team in developing the content requirements for financial reporting that meets the information needs of the investment community, and assist in its production and timely dissemination

  • Conduct in-depth research into a range of topics, including the writings of sell-side analysts and reporters with regard to Alexion, bio/pharma industry trends and events, and larger market trends/events

  • Support metric-driven targeting of potential new shareholders

  • Monitor the positions of current holders of Alexion shares with regard to both Alexion and peer companies

  • Track sell-side consensus

  • Create content for and attend various investor conferences

  • Manage logistics for IR events

  • Liaise with outside IR resources

  • Establish and maintain effective relations with sell-side analysts

  • Interact with the investment community on behalf of Alexion

  • Establish and maintain relations to other departments and executives within the company to stay abreast of relevant internal information and company or industry development

  • Develop a deep knowledge of the business and understanding of RegFD requirements in order to be fully capable to answer the many questions received from the investment community

Qualifications

  • 7+ years relevant work/finance experience in an IR, corporate communications or finance setting

  • Good familiarity with the bio/pharmaceutical space, though strong candidates from outside the industry will be considered

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both oral and written

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise judgment and discretion

  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and independence in carrying out multiple tasks, as well as strong critical thinking and problem solving skill

  • Ability to work well with all levels of employees and demonstrate strong teaming and partnering skills

  • Attention to detail and the ability to meet the changing demands of a new, growing department and organization is critical

  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and independence in carrying out multiple tasks.

  • Available to travel approximately 15-20% of the time

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • Advanced degree in life sciences or finance including Ph.D., M.D., MBA, CPA, or CFA is preferred
