BMC is led globally by Karen Hopkins. The function is made up of over 2,000 professionals, working across the Executive and Regions in the following areas of specialism: Brand; Marketing; PR/Media Relations & External Communications; Internal Communications & Employee Engagement; Corporate communications.

BMC also includes a number of teams who are responsible for content development, editorial, webcasts, events-staging, strategy, planning and operations. The opportunity

At EY, Social Media plays a pivotal role driving awareness, delivering business goals and acting as a touch point with its communities around the world. Social media is also a key element in delivering on the EY goal to become to world’s most distinctive professional services brand.

The EY Global Media Relations and Social Media team is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled senior level social media consultant for an 8-12 maternity cover. This role forms part of a small global team that is charged with developing and implementing the global social media strategy, transformation plan and best practices across the global organization.

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled, digital native who works both independently and as part of a team, delivering and constantly refining an always-on social media channel strategy for the EY global social media accounts across our four channels: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The individual will develop both real-time, reactive and planned content, and support all management of accounts in close collaboration with the PR and marketing leads.

Social strategy and transformation is welcome as the individual will be part of a team leading the transformation of social media across EY, including the formation of its social media agency ecosystem; creation of tools and training to drive social media excellence across all of EY globally; and sharpening consistency across EY. The individual should also have experience in advising and implementing plans to support brand ambassadors’ personal social media.

The role also requires an experienced, organized, proactive, creative, detail-oriented professional who enjoys a mix of planning, practical execution and community engagement/management. The individual will have excellent command of the English language (written and oral) and the experience and positive attitude to take on challenges, manage multiple projects at once and position ideas to a diverse group of senior business stakeholders and brand, marketing and communications colleagues alike.

Your key responsibilities

The role supports publishing social media content at the global level and covers:

  • Working as part of an integrated agile team to lead all EY global social media relations.

  • Social media content planning and strategy creation in line with the overall editorial/content plans

  • Social media content creation and curation - working with both in-house and external designers and suppliers – as well as content review, approval and scheduling

  • Social media engagement and community management: monitoring/listening across corporate social channels, initiating and proactively responding to conversations or comments

  • Support EY leaders’ approach to their own social media presences through strategic recommendations, insights and learnings.

  • Creating integrated social media plans that bring organic and paid social media together to make impactful customer journeys. Effectively create, plan curate, and manage all content (images, video and written) to reach desired audiences

  • Monitor, listen and respond to communities on all managed platforms

  • Develop and expand social audiences and all social efforts through integrated strategic approach to content and communities

  • Lead by example, taking a positive attitude at all times, embracing opportunities, working collaboratively and swiftly, and ensuring that senior management and team are kept abreast of issues/concerns.

  • Employ best practices for measuring the impact of social media campaigns in line with reporting approach outlined

  • Work across time zones and communicate regularly with the EY global PR network, to inform of upcoming initiatives

  • Communicate clearly and effectively across all deliverables, including stakeholder communications and measurement and status reports

  • Continually act as an ambassador for BMC (Brand, Marketing and Communication) across all internal and external engagements

  • Creating, owning and developing measurement reports, social media assets, scheduling posts on social media tools (like Sprinklr and Smarp)

Skills and attributes for success

  • Thorough understanding of social media, its channels and social-first content

  • Ability to develop the right voice for each social media platform and build social media communities.

  • Promote innovation in the social space by maintaining a deep understanding of the landscape and using data to sell ideas internally

  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines

  • Ability to produce excellent, quick, clean and engaging copy under pressure

  • Experienced in using social media tools. Sprinklr and Smarp (or equivalents) experience is required

  • Drive to promote innovation in the social space by maintaining a deep understanding of the landscape and using data to sell ideas internally

To qualify for the role you must have

  • 7-9 years’ social media experience– digital or social media agency expertise desired and in-house ideal

  • Able to work in a matrixed organisation, to fuse multiple inputs behind a simplified plan

  • Proven ability to manage complex processes and/or projects at a global level

  • Strong presence, influencing and stakeholder management skills

  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity, as this role will involve daily interaction with people in countries around the globe

  • A self-starter with a “can do” attitude and the drive to get the job done; the potential to develop within the organization

  • A passion, drive and complete understanding of social media to deliver creativity and big ideas

  • Global B2B social media experience and have supported thought leaders on social media
