Meta Art Director - Privacy in Boston, Massachusetts


Meta is looking for an experienced Art Director to join the Privacy Design creative team and help us ship best-in-class creative work in support of Privacy across the Meta family of apps and services. Privacy is a fast-growing organization at Meta, and the creative team delivers key strategic, branding, storytelling, marketing, and educational communication design as trusted creative partners. The Art Director will provide creative strategy, visual direction, and at times, hands-on design in support of a variety of creative projects. This person will be responsible for contributing to the overall design process through research, strategy, concepting, design development, and delivery of compelling visuals that will resonate with global Meta audiences. The ideal candidate is a strategic and detail-oriented Art Director with a concept-driven approach who understands how to tell and visually support compelling stories and is constantly striving for clarity in the conveyance and expression of a thought or idea. They are an expert in their craft, with the ability to inspire and empower other creatives to create their best work. We’re also looking for someone who cares about the success of a project and applies that knowledge forward. The Art Director should be equally at home delivering typical creative projects as well as challenging, unique, or abstract assignments with solid, strategically sound, breakthrough ideas and methodologies. They should have the ability to adapt to various creative styles and mediums, and know how to work both in-product and in support of marketing.

Required Skills:

Art Director - Privacy Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate closely with producers, art directors, designers, illustrators, and animators to deliver compelling work

  2. Create sketches, storyboards, prototypes, and/or design specs necessary to guide development of the creative work

  3. Work in collaboration with cross-functional teams to absorb knowledge, define opportunities, and develop concepts and treatments to bring ideas to life

  4. Deliver a range of assets depending on project requirements, including presentations, websites, branding, illustrations, motion graphics, standards, principles, iconography, and more

  5. Work closely with Creative Leadership, Product Designers or Content Strategists to strategically choose or develop visual style and tone, thinking about each project holistically and how it fits in the entire Privacy ecosystem

  6. Work alongside producers to ensure work streams are organized in a way that guarantees on-time delivery and a clear, transparent project lifecycle

  7. Collaborate with leadership both within Privacy and other product teams

  8. Collect and share learnings from executions with cross-functional partnerships internally to constantly improve the quality and effectiveness of our work

  9. Deliver content that’s delightful, beautiful, clear, and effective with a high level of finish and polish

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years experience as an experienced Art Director at a creative agency or an in-house team

  2. High proficiency in developing unique concepts, ideas, and solutions

  3. Experienced visual designer and systems thinker

  4. Expertise in a varied set of visual styles, with an understanding of color, typography, composition and production

  5. Experience developing concepts for motion and success telling universal, relatable stories

  6. Experience working in broad, undefined, unstructured, ambiguous, or conflicting problem spaces

  7. Experience coordinating, directing, and guiding the work of other designers on the team

  8. Presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills

  9. Demonstrated experience creating quality work in a fast-paced environment with concurrent projects

  10. Possesses a curiosity for the why and the how in addition to the what

  11. Motivation to develop curiosity and learn about a variety of topics and then apply the knowledge into clear, compelling, actionable ideas

  12. Experience setting aside ego, take design feedback, and incorporate it

  13. An understanding of how to incorporate research insights into the work

  14. Understand and evangelize that good ideas come from anywhere and anyone

  15. Updated portfolio showcasing relevant work
