Life is Good Apparel Designer, Men's and Kid's in Boston, Massachusetts

YOUR OBJECTIVE

You make our product come to life through connecting art to a canvas. You conduct research, develop and implement “blank canvases” for the Art House while adhering to the design and development calendar. You research, develop and implement seasonal color palettes to be applied across all Life is Good product.

YOUR JOB

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research seasonal silhouette, fabric and trend inspiration via global trend forecasting service and competitive marketplace for Men’s and Kid’s product

  • Provide key seasonal trend information and visual tools to share with cross-functional teams

  • Provide accurate flat sketches of new silhouettes including detailed close-ups for technical design packages as well as selling tools

  • Create initial design hand-off sheets for all new products including key measurements and design intent

  • Participate in fit meetings to ensure original intent and design point of view

  • Review all seasonal sales samples to ensure design accuracy and communicate comments to vendors

  • Research and develop Design Intent Inspiration Boards to partner with Graphic Design team

  • Request lab dips for all fabrications, review for color accuracy and provide comments to vendors

  • Review seasonal Sales Samples for ground and trim color accuracy and communicate comments to vendors

  • Communication with global and domestic vendor base to maintain the integrity of all design details

  • Develop Interior main label color and gain approvals

  • Research and develop product label in partnership with Product Management

  • Maintain daily PLM data entry and maintenance

  • Prepare and take-down meetings and presentations

  • Partner cross-functionally with Marketing and the Creative Hub on special projects

  • Continuously seek to understand the evolution of the brand as well as our target customer and apply to all design work (silhouettes, fabrics , merchandising)

  • Express your design intent by refining your understanding of garment construction and fit

  • Expand your Adobe Illustrator knowledge to enable best practice for sketching accurate and detailed sketches of your designs

  • Practice organization, flexibility and the ability to prioritize workload

  • Partner with cross-functional teams and assist as needed

Requirements

Your Experience and Qualifications:

  • You have earned a BA or BFA in Apparel/Fashion Design

  • You have a minimum 5 years of design experience

  • You are exceptionally creative, an organized thinker, and a thoughtful, skilled communicator

  • You are skilled at using design and communication technology

  • You are adept at flat sketching and illustration

  • You have experienced with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Web PDM, Word

  • You've achieved a superior score on Munsell Hue Test to establish color acumen

  • You have a mature understanding of garment construction

  • You understand how color reacts to different materials

  • You prioritize exceptionally well
