MassMutual is seeking an accomplished Actuary to join the company’s Institutional Actuarial team within MassMutual Institutional Solutions. The Institutional Businesses are undergoing growth and represent a key component of the company’s business strategy. In this individual contributor role, the incumbent will utilize their influence, business and technical knowledge to influence strategy and execute on driving risk controlled profitable growth.
The primary responsibilities will be to support the Stable Value Products for both the Institutional Investment and Workplace product lines. Key areas of focus include Product Development, Pricing, In-force Product Management, Underwriting, and Financial & Risk Management. This role will require combining technical actuarial skills with influence, collaboration, and effective communication with internal business lines, corporate and other MassMutual functions, as well as involve interaction with external clients, intermediaries and partners.
Determination of new business & in-force crediting rates utilizing both the portfolio and investment year methods.
Calculation of market value adjustments, Fair Value, and annuity rate calculations.
Liaison with Corporate teams on ALM and crediting rate strategies.
Liaison with Corporate Investments & Barings on management of the GIA Stable Value pricing
Supporting and leading projects related to product changes and new product offerings including pricing, contracts, filing, risk assessment, and approvals from our corporate risk function working in close partnership with the business lines
Supporting Stable Value and DB products and other Institutional Solutions as needed
Present complex analyses and concepts to executive management
Analysis of risks and underwriting considerations and participating in contract negotiations
Performing experience studies and setting assumptions
Reporting on stable value products & performing financial analyses and forecasting
Acting as a technical expert on stable value products including providing support to client facing teams
Solicit & analyze competitive data
Influence and contribute to ongoing business strategy and growth
Other Stable Value and actuarial projects in support of the Institutional and Workplace businesses
Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.
An accomplished ASA or FSA with experience in pricing, product development or investments
6+ years experience in an Actuarial role; industry wrap risk management, stable value, or related experience
Demonstrates leadership and influence
Demonstrates initiative and sense of urgency; takes ownership and is results-orientated
Ability to effectively manage and deliver on multiple concurrent deliverables
Disciplined approach to strategic initiatives, business projects and day-to-day activities
Ability to analyze and comprehend complex information, as well as convey complex materials to non-technical audiences
Comfortable dealing with both complexity and ambiguity, with ability to explore multiple solutions to a problem
Detail oriented with strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, presentation)Advanced business degree and/or professional qualifications
