Essential functions and basic duties

Reporting to the VP of Product Management & PMO, the Product Manager is responsible for full lifecycle management of cross-functional teams to bring to market products and services that deliver unique benefits and outstanding value to the customers and thereby to Sensitech! The Product Manager engages with the Product Marketing Managers, Sales, and other key team members to translate voice of the customer (VOC) and market needs into new product requirements that drive tactical activities.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Working with VP, Product Management & PMO, support special projects in support of organizational and company goals.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to other product management team members

  • Collaborate with other organizations to participate in critical initiatives

Direct Responsibilities:

With regard to the product or technology segment for which they are responsible to supply products and services, be directly responsible to:

  • Act as the Product Champion for identified portfolio of products, supporting strategic and tactical initiatives to generate new market share and to ensure customer retention

  • Understand, document, and communicate product/service solutions to be addressed, the value to be provided to the target customers, market size, competitive landscape, business risk, and the financial and strategic opportunity that the product or service represents for the company

  • Understand business and commercial drivers and build the business case and the requirements for potential new products and product improvements

  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for internal user and external customer support, training development, and market facing communications

  • Translate customer and market needs along with regulatory and technology trends into product requirements and customer use cases. Work directly with Engineering in the detailed requirement definition and prioritization process.

  • Engage the customers early and often in testing out ideas, proof of concepts, and alpha and beta releases to elicit feedback to better understand user needs.

  • Drive solution sets and act as the primary product contact across development and operational teams

  • Fully immerse the teams in developing a user experience (UX) for Sensitech’s products that delight the user and provide a seamless experience

  • Gain consensus through periodic cross-functional team meetings while developing a customer focused product/service roadmap

  • Support a comprehensive solution and identify/address cross product dependencies through collaboration with all platform product managers

  • Collaborate with Product Management team in product roadmap planning including product introduction, product positioning, and target End-of-Life.

Shared Responsibilities:

Through collaboration with appropriate colleagues, ensure that the product, product line, or service commercialization plan is:

  • Consistent with and supportive of the evolving market vertical strategy as developed by the Strategic Marketing partners

  • Successfully introduced in collaboration with the appropriate product marketing manager by supporting the outbound marketing launch of new products and releases with the MARCOM team

  • Enabling the global sales force through sales support activities, virtual and onsite training sessions, RFP/audit responses, and customer specific requirement definition and contract commitments.

  • Growing the value proposition offered through our products and services

  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives

  • Meeting and exceeding product quality, reliability, and performance expectations

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Undergraduate degree in equivalent field, MBA is a plus; 5+ years of product management experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge and success with the new product introduction (NPI) process from idea generation, product/service conception to commercialization

  • Experience with meeting global customer needs

  • Experience with Client-Server software applications, web based applications, system architecture, reporting services, and hardware solutions

  • Familiarity with User Experience (UX), and User Experience Design (UXD)

  • Comfortable in multi-tasking between business, technical, and strategic marketing activities

  • Strong product/project management, problem-solving, & analytical thinking skills

  • Demonstrated ability to develop positive relationships and work with staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams, and third parties

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; Excellent presentation abilities

  • Strong computer skills, especially MS Office

  • Be a self-starter, a highly motivated person able to work in a fast paced environment

  • Experience with Lean, ISO and/or GxP processes (i.e. 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 11); Understanding of regulatory requirements is desirable

  • Deep understanding of software development lifecycle including SaaS model. Iterative / Agile experience is a plus.

  • Capable of integrating information from multiple sources and finding creative ways to meet individual company needs while maintaining product value to a broad audience

  • Experience working with remote and/or offshore teams

Travel:

  • Ability and willingness to travel (including international) up to 30% of the time is required (Dependent on latest guidance related to Covid-19 mitigation).
