Pharmacy Pyxis Coordinator
∙ Performs a wide variety of duties under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist relating to the preparation, distribution, and storage of pharmaceuticals for neonatal, infant, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.
∙ Works with computerized and automated systems for dispensing medications.
∙ Responsible for managing medications in Pyxis Machines, running reports, maintaining all electronic and database aspects of Pyxis Machines.
∙ Responsible for developing and promoting collaborative and collegial relationships with nurses, physicians and interdepartmental personnel as they relate to the pharmaceutical care of the patients. Responsible for teaching and training other technicians and assisting in administrative duties. Must be able to work at multiple sites.
∙ Promotes and adheres to standards of customer service, professional behavior, and team approach/initiative.
∙ Willingness to be accountable and self-directed to complete job/work in collaboration with other members of the health care team.
∙ Works with pharmacist to perform audits of assigned nursing stations and pharmacy areas to check/remove and replace outdates. Must have working knowledge of both the inventory and outdating tracking functions on the automated Pyxis Machines. Maintains communication with pharmacist as to tasks completed for proper documentation and communication with area managers if a problem is noted.
Requirements/Licenses:
∙ Registered with Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician
∙ National Pharmacy Technician Certification
∙ Previous hospital experience in the pharmacy department
