Location/Division Specific Information
This position is a part of the Life Sciences and Laboratory Products Group. The position is a part for the Cell Culture and Cell Therapy business unit within the BioProduction Division.
The ideal candidate would be located remotely in the East Coast. (Grand Island, Hunt Valley, Bedford, however the position has been opened remotely.)
How will you make an impact?
The Global Product Manager is responsible for developing and implementing global product strategies to accelerate the growth of BioProduction business. The Product Manager will be managing Gibco Cell Culture Media portfolio including Gibco CTS ™ products and their use in bioprocess applications for manufacturing of cell therapies and other growth areas. The global product manager will be supporting market analysis, planning, and commercial strategy. Key success metrics of this position are revenue growth, portfolio profitability, and new product introductions.
What will you do?
Manage the cell therapy, and other growth area biomanufacturing portfolio of media products.
Developing mid-range product strategies focused in cell therapy and new growth areas. Guide fiscal planning for future positioning, growth, and evolution of the product platform. This includes identifying, establishing and managing strategic relationships with customers, suppliers and industry opinion leaders.
Be a key opinion leader (KOL) for their product line, represent Thermo Fisher Scientific externally at conferences and tradeshows, able to effectively communicate product strategy and tactics to the market.
Champion successful launches through requirements, development, and commercialization. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Sr Product Manager owns the ultimate customer and financial success of new product introductions (NPIs).
Responsible for revenue, margin, customer satisfaction, and market share objectives.
Serve as product champion with internal stakeholders, regional teams, and directly with customers including key accounts.
An effective performer will maintain close relationships with field organization (e.g., sales and technical support) through training and active participation in the sales process, including customer visits, participating with pricing tactics, and customer support.
Provides input to business unit annual strategic plan development including STRAP and AOP
Champion new product directions: work across functions to develop business opportunities for revenue growth (organic and inorganic) and cost reduction and use voice of customer research. Develop long-term product roadmap according to business strategy.
Partner closely with commercial organization to support price and supply agreement negotiations.
Develop business cases for investments and present to general manager / senior leadership.
Provide market input and voice of customer to the Operations function. Support product planning in conjunction with manufacturing and planning teams to deliver optimal service levels for products; analyze profitability and monitor key financial indicators.
Develop and manage strategic collaborations for product partnerships. Lead cross-functional teams with R&D, operations, commercial groups and external partners to execute programs.
How will you get here?
Bachelor's in scientific field required
Master's in scientific field or MBA strongly preferred
Ph.D. in scientific field is preferred
6+ years, product management, R&D or market development experience preferred.
Experience working directly with customers.
Experience leading cross functional teams and influencing cross functional stakeholders
Advanced knowledge of global bioprocessing markets including cell therapy and competitive landscape.
Working knowledge of quality and regulatory requirements for the products.
In depth technical understanding of product portfolio including the customer workflow and requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Advanced skills in Microsoft Products: PowerPoint, Excel., PowerBI
Ability to work with teams across the global and cultural difference.
Self-starter with the ability to create and execute plans with minimal supervision.
Strong management, project management and planning skills, and comfortable making decisions and embracing changes.
Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in matrix organizational structure.
Outcome orientation and a strong desire to plan to measure the success of initiatives.
Proven ability to identify strategic opportunities, set aggressive objectives, and drive key business priorities.
Travel: approximately 30% globally
