Position Description

Thisposition will lead and develop a social media content strategy that supportsthe dynamic needs of MITRE’s strategic external communications programs forMITRE’s social media presence. The strategy will focus on creating awareness ofMITRE’s programs, Point of View, and leadership in government technology andbuilding engagement and influence with key audiences through social mediacontent and digital story-telling. This role will be responsible for managing asocial media council of content contributors on the Strategic Communicationsteam, developing social media strategies that connect communications goals andoutcomes with business goals and outcomes and serving as an advisor to internalstakeholders. This candidate will develop and execute communications plans andpaid promotional campaigns that differentiate MITRE and support its growthefforts and business priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Create social mediastrategies that extend MITRE’s reach, engagement, and influence.

  • Write persuasively anduse creative to increase engagement and influence through MITRE’s social mediachannels.

  • Develop a social mediacontent strategy that incorporates MITRE’s brand voice and establishes a visualbrand identity.

  • Think creatively andcritically to drive the development of social media content strategy anddigital storytelling through paid, owned, and shared media strategies.

  • Act as a trustedcommunications advisor, collaborating with content contributors and MITREprogram directors and officers across the MITRE technology portfolio.

  • Create and managesocial media council of content contributors to coordinate a consistent brandvoice and digital story telling presence.

  • Develop, implement, andmeasure social media plans against business goals and outcomes.

  • Create digitalanalytics methodology to measure reach, engagement, and influence on MITRE’ssocial media channels.

  • Lead efforts to developnew story ideas and content strategy for MITRE communications campaign themeson social media.

Qualifications

Work Experience

  • 7 to 10 yearsdemonstrated success in public relations and social media program planning,implementation, and measurement.

Job Skills

  • Excellent written andoral communications skills.

  • Proven experiencebuilding and implementing social media programs, including creative and contentdevelopment.

  • Proven experiencemanaging comprehensive social media campaigns using paid, owned, and shared mediastrategies and advocacy to advance the organization’s strategic mission andgoals.

  • Experience supportingsenior leadership in one-on-one and small group settings.

  • Ability to workindependently and demonstrate initiative and creativity.

  • Ability to manage ateam of content contributors providing skills training as needed and ensuringdelivery of high-quality content (written and visual) that creates a consistentbrand expression across all channels.

  • Solid contentdevelopment and campaign management experience, including ability optimizesocial media channels to achieve strategic objectives, build brand awarenessand loyalty, and support business growth goals.

  • Ability to managemultiple projects simultaneously, delivering to or exceeding plan goals, and executingon budget.

  • Understanding ofpodcasting and methodologies of developing owned media channels.

  • Prior social media andcontent strategy experience required. Knowledge of technology and governmentcontracting industry preferred. Campaign, PR agency, or corporatecommunications is a plus. Spanish language skills are a plus.

  • Must have provenability to problem solve and execute communications plans while operating in afast-paced environment and manage changing priorities.
