The Senior Marketing Manager, National Security, is responsible for creating marketing communications strategy and programs that support go-to-market plans and other growth initiatives. MITRE supports a broad base of customers within the DoD and Intelligence Community, including all branches of the armed services, the Defense Information Systems Agency, and the offices of the Joint Chiefs of the Staff and the Secretary of Defense. The work we do with government, industry, and academia in applied science and advanced technology impacts programs that support the future of U.S. scientific and economic leadership. In this role, you will create and execute campaigns across multiple channels that deliver measurable results, working closely with the manager of Sponsor and Growth Programs and senior leadership in support of MITRE’s national security business strategy.
You are entrepreneurial and self-directed – and able to help and in some cases lead the establishment of organic business development strategies, demand generation, and nurture campaigns in support of revenue and program objectives. MITRE does not currently have a “traditional” sales organization and structure so you will work closely with business leaders to help and in some cases lead the development of go-to-market strategies and business development plans.
You are a strong leader and excellent communicator who can drive consensus and articulate recommendations and trade-offs to senior executives. In this role, you will collaborate with colleagues both within the business and with the MITRE Strategic Communications team to plan and execute marketing programs. You are a skilled storyteller with experience in multi-channel marketing to promote MITRE’s impact and illustrate how we deliver on our mission: Solving Problems for a Safer World.
Translate goals and objectives of the business into comprehensive/sound marketing strategies and socialize those strategies for feedback and cross-team/cross-function buy-in.
Act as a strategic advisor and use advanced marketing skills to contribute to the development of strategic objectives, partnering with the business to define their value proposition in support of business objectives, and develop effective product collateral, presentations, customer case studies and digital content aligned to current and prospective customer / sponsors.
Work in collaboration with the business and Strategic Communications leadership to shape and drive business unit strategy aligned to MITRE’s corporate strategy.
Develop, coordinate, and execute an integrated marketing and communications plan and tactics in support of strategic go-to-market plans and revenue growth objectives for the business in collaboration with the Strategic Communications digital, external media, events, and creative teams.
Provide brand stewardship through all marketing and communications activities. Be an advocate for the business in support of data-driven brand research, development and implementation efforts for branding, messaging, and digital campaigns. Maintain MITRE brand integrity and ensure that the customer experience aligns to the brand strategy.
Establish best practices to track performance reporting.
- 10-15 years of demonstrated success in technical services and/or government industry marketing, including campaign planning, implementation, and measurement.
Demonstrated performance in capturing relevant national security business for DOD, IC or similar customers. International experience is a plus.
Excellent written and oral communications and presentation skills.
Superior, confident PowerPoint, storytelling, and presentation skills.
Experience with SalesForce, including Marketing Cloud, or other similar program.
Proven experience managing comprehensive marketing campaigns using both broad and targeted digital strategies to advance the organization’s strategic mission and goals.
Skilled in customer journey mapping.
Experience supporting senior and executive leadership communications in one-on-one and small group settings.
Solid content development and campaign management experience, including ability to optimize all forms of communications to achieve strategic objectives, build brand awareness and loyalty, and support business growth goals.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, delivering to or exceeding plan goals.
Knowledge of technology and government contracting industry is required. Marketing agency experience preferred.
Must have proven ability to problem solve and execute marketing plans while operating in a fast-paced environment and manage changing priorities.
Possess a “can do” attitude and ability to solve problems.
Intellectually curious, and willing to go the extra mile to understand how MITRE’s work supports our mission of solving problems for a safer world.
Ability to develop strong and compelling stories about complex, technical topics.
Keen understanding of how digital campaigns and thought leadership platforms converge and how to tell and sell great stories in this context.
Collaborative team player who demonstrates initiative and creativity.
