MITRE is seeking a Senior Manager, Market Intelligence and Research . This individual will serve as the founding leader of an emerging market/technology/sponsor intelligence capability and a leader for the organization’s Information Services function.

We are looking for a skilled professional to launch and shape a market, technology, and sponsor intelligence capability that can create, gather and disseminate external business data and intelligence, creating critical insights that leaders across the company need to achieve our corporate goals and mission impact. The scope of this function covers a variety of global markets, from industry, domestic and foreign governments, to non-profits. Target analyses include competitive landscaping, market dynamics and any other business insights that enable effective decision-making internally.

This position will also lead MITRE’s existing Information Services team, which is focused on a broad variety of primary and secondary research projects in service of MITRE’s work programs and corporate health. Additionally, the function manages MITRE internal subscriptions services, fielding requests for documents and e-books and performs knowledge management.

This position will interact with all levels of the company, including senior level managers, technical SMEs, and analysts. While the primary purpose of this role is to provide leadership and expertise in competitive analysis, it also requires the ability to have self-initiated deep research skills and extensive familiarity with database products and market trends.

The ideal candidate will have had hands-on experience performing primary and secondary research on government and industry trends and market participants, an entrepreneurial approach to generating and creating value and impact, an appreciation for a nonprofit/public interest environment, and strong managerial/leadership skills.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead a small team of analysts in the development and execution of market, technology, and sponsor intelligence research and strategic projects

  • Manage the information services capability and staff team, including the fulfillment of custom research requests, digital libraries, and customized newsletters

  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of market and competitive trends, and deliver objective, meaningful insights in concise and compelling ways

  • Serve as a thought leader within MITRE to advance our Intelligence and Information services by actively listening and shaping offerings aligned to mission and business needs

  • Collaborate effectively with team members and senior stakeholders

  • Communicate findings to team members and stakeholders in an insightful and persuasive manner

  • Manage multiple projects and stakeholders

  • Manage the Year 1 launch of this integrated Information and Intelligence capability, including internal communication, generating initial customer and support, change management leadership, and curating/evolving the menu of offerings and support

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 12 years of market / competitive intelligence and research efforts experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 10 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 7 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education

  • Experience preparing and delivering high-quality presentations and models

  • Working knowledge of data sources to gather intelligence

  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to approach complex problems and develop solutions

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills (including leveraging data visualization) to effectively communicate complex topics

  • Experience managing individuals and teams

  • Ability to lead, motivate, and influence others in a matrixed operating environment

  • Collaboration skills and ability to form and maintain cross-functional partnerships

  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Proven ability to work with SMEs, Managers and present to Executives

  • An understanding of and appreciation for working in the public interest

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or another related field

  • Experience in consulting, technology, government, or as a government contractor

  • Knowledge of the federal R&D environment and the role and value of federally-funded research and development centers.
