Position Summary:

The Sr Business Development Manager will identify and execute on opportunities for customized chromatography and analytical solutions based on the platform technology and capabilities of the Purification and Pharma Analytics business unit. Will work closely with the global commercial team as well as the business units, R&D and operations to drive significant custom revenue opportunities as well as building business cases for custom programs that may have the potential of becoming standard products and championing those through the development process.


  • Market research to identify potential applications that are not well addressed with current product portfolios where a custom approach may be required to address customer pain points

  • Coordinate with global commercial team to advance dialog with senior leaders and decision makers within the account to assist in closing opportunities for custom programs

  • Complete complex client negotiations and work with business to agree and approve project pricing

  • Manage the contracting process by working with client, internal business and legal participants. Act as lead to negotiating and closing supply agreements as products transition to being use in commercial processes

  • Coordinate and drive process with input from business, R&D and Operations to develop and deliver statements of work for each phase of the custom process

  • Identify opportunities for launching standard products from custom opportunities, build business cases for product development and initiate development using the PCP process when required

  • Identify opportunities to usher contract negotiations and SOWS through the signing process more efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires minimum Bachelor’s degree in life science

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Bioproduction commercial or business role

  • Proven relationship and selling skills

  • Excellent communication skills including writing, articulating, listening and questioning skills required

  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels inside and outside the company, including senior management

  • Ability to effectively influence and guide and negotiate with potential clients

  • Ability to effectively shift priorities and work at rapid pace

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred

  • Ability to work in the Bedford office in proximity to business, R&D and operations teams
