MITRE is seeking a Managing Director of Programs to manage MITRE Engenuity’s program offerings. Harnessing MITRE’s 60 years of R&D discipline, we know how to mobilize quickly and act on the hardest problems to create a safer world. Managed under MITRE’s Accelerator organization, our nonprofit foundation, MITRE Engenuity (ME), is dedicated to solving problems for a safer world by accelerating innovation with industry in the public interest.

The Managing Director of Programs will report to the VP, MITRE Accelerator and will be responsible for the cultivating, implementing, and scaling current and new program offerings with a focus on generational impact. This will be attained by facilitating strategic, collaborative thinking with the program teams, exceptional execution of programs measured by cost, schedule, and performance), and improving and enhancing impact of program offerings over time.

This is an exciting new role for a seasoned executive with a demonstrated track record of results. They must have a strategic mindset and be able to lead and develop their team in a matrixed environment.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Lead the coordinated organization, direction, and implementation of MITRE Engenuity’s program strategy ensuring successful delivery and the highest possible value to the organization(s) and public good.

  • Collaborate closely with the Managing Director of Incubation and New Product Development to transition offerings from development to execution and delivery.

  • Ensure programs are in continual alignment with the strategy, customer needs, and ongoing market adjustments.

  • Tracking and monitoring to ensure program execution, customer satisfaction, and impact.

  • Design evaluation strategies to identify areas of improvement and to ensure value and quality of offerings.

  • Communicates sponsor strategic outcomes, milestones, and accomplishments to all staff associated within the work program.

  • Shapes the workforce to deliver high-value, high-impact work, including ensuring that staffing levels are maintained for critical skills and that the right people are placed in the right jobs.

  • Accountable for staff development—recruiting, hiring, coaching, performance management, development, and salary administration.

  • Manage and accountable for budget related to the division and program delivery.

  • Keep senior management informed with detailed and accurate communications.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Proven experience as an executive shaping and managing multiple large-scale programs.

  • Experience managing complex programs with large cross-functional teams.

  • Proactive networker internal and externally, engaging key stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics.

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.

  • An analytical mindset with great problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication skills.

Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS, MS/MBA preferred and 15 years of experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS and 15 years of related experience.
