Ocular Therapeutix, Inc Medical & Scientific Publications Manager in Bedford, Massachusetts

The Medical Affairs Medical & Scientific Publications Manager will be an integral part of the Medical Affairs team. He/she will be accountable for executing the medical affairs initiatives associated with the medical communications plan, including providing operational and administrative support. In addition, he/she will be responsible for the oversight and function of medical review of materials for promotional materials and facilitate and coordinate medical review of non-promotional materials.

Medical Communication Planning:

  • Collaborate with Medical & Scientific Communications Lead to support the execution of the Medical Affairs strategy and plan

  • Support the execution of pipeline medical communications plans

Content Development:

  • Provide support to all communications with authors to track and facilitate publications submission, content approvals and other related activities as needed per ICJME guidelines

  • Track the submission deadlines for year-round conferences and submit finalized content to congresses following author approval

  • Collaborate with authors and medical writing team in drafting, writing, reviewing and editing of materials; incorporate edits

  • Facilitate the internal and external (if applicable) review and approval of publications

  • Maintain the scientific communications platform under the direction of the Medical & Scientific Communications Lead

  • Assist in the development of content (in collaboration with external vendors where applicable) for external audiences (MSL decks, advisory board materials, etc.)

  • Facilitate the Publications Committee including generation of agendas, recording and circulating meeting minutes, and tracking outcomes of decision

Knowledge Management:

  • Shepherd medical materials through the review and approval process

  • Coordinate and participate in MRC meetings to resolve conflicting comments

  • Manage reviewer timelines with close attention to deadlines, understanding sensitivities related to detail and timeline of information dissemination

  • Create and maintain project status and projected timelines for medical and scientific materials

  • Organize and track review materials along with maintaining an IT system (VEEVA) ensuring appropriate/necessary signatures and references are in place

  • Develop and maintain current, broad, and in-depth knowledge of pathophysiology, pharmacotherapy, and clinical outcomes associated with products and relevant disease states

  • Support the development of training materials for Medical Affairs stakeholders based on scientific communications platform

  • Work closely with other stakeholders to ensure appropriate "final" versions are in use

  • Assist in ensuring internal document and information repository is maintained and accessible for Medical Affairs stakeholders

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Support the execution of congress plans and MSL activities in collaboration with other internal functions

  • Provide updates to internal stakeholders on medical communications related activities as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • May oversee the work of external consultant(s) and/or manage vendor(s)

Other:

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor's degree with related health science background preferred, clinical research/publications experience strongly preferred

  • Experience in the ophthalmic pharmaceutical space preferred, but not required

  • 1+ years’ experience in Medical Affairs or related fields like medical device, biotech, pharma or others

  • Exceptional project management, superior organizational and advanced MS Office skills required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Experience with Veeva Vault Promo mats preferred but not required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including meticulous proofreading)

  • Team-oriented, flexible, creative, inquisitive, driven and extremely reliable

  • Ability to learn applications quickly

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills

  • Support/back up internal medical affairs team

  • Ability to work with and collaborate will all levels and groups

  • Ability to travel 15%
