Sensata Technologies, Inc. Senior Director, Strategy and Business Development in Attleboro, Massachusetts
Given Sensata’s growth ambitions to expand our competitive edge, and our leadership position in our automotive, industrial, heavy vehicle and off-road, aerospace, military, commercial and residential end markets, we are seeking a Strategic Marketing Professional to identify new growth markets, expand existing markets and create proposals and strategies for optimizing and executing on those opportunities.
This role will lead multiple strategic initiatives, and will be expected to thoroughly analyze market opportunities, organize cross-functional teams, and propose and manage timely analyses with predetermined milestones. Ultimately, he/she will establish well supported solutions with specific recommendations that will enable the executive management team to make critical go/no go decisions.
This role will collaborate with our Corporate Strategy team, Business unit General Managers, Ventures/Technology office, and Marketing leaders to develop new strategies, refine specific BU strategies and identify new growth markets. In addition, he/she will regularly interface with the Corporate M&A team to develop and execute a healthy M&A pipeline including target outreach and developing & executing integration plans. He/ she may also support the various business units with their strategic planning as required.
Responsibilities Include :
Own overall corporate strategy for major strategic initiatives. Drive strategy in close collaboration with senior Global Business Unit leadership
Drive strategic initiatives through concept, management alignment, and execution.
Present strategy and market opportunities regularly to senior leadership and interface/report out to the Board of Directors. Regularly report updates on results against business objectives to the regional and global executives of the business
Lead and manage direct reports in the corporate strategy function (starting with 1, but ability to manage up to 5 reports within 12-18 months)
Collaborate with peers across the globe on market research and analysis to help lead initiatives to drive our business objectives.
M&A: Identify inorganic growth opportunities for Sensata that align with strategic initiatives, including
Landscape Analysis - conduct primary commercial diligence for new markets/white space.
Pipeline development -partner with business development team on pipeline development and developing deal thesis and driving commercial diligence work plan
Strategic Due Diligence
Contribute to post-merger integration planning after successful acquisitions.
Graduate MBA degree from top 20 business school
Masters of Science Degree a plus
Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Economics or Business
A minimum of 3-5 years of consulting with a top-tier firm, having worked on growth strategy projects and/or 5+ years of experience in a Corporate Strategy role
Past general/line management experience a plus
Analytical Rigor: the ability to run highly complicated quantitative and financial analysis in a defect-free manner.
Structured and Logical Thinking: the ability to dissect a problem in a structured approach and quickly form a hypothesis against which to run test analysis.
Powerful Communication: the ability to communicate persuasively, both verbally and on paper/digital media with company Executives.
Understand different Direct Sales and Channel Selling options
Understanding of HW, SW and SaaS models
The candidate selected for this position will be a creative, out-of-the-box thinker who is intellectually curious with a demonstrated interest in learning. This person will also need to be a self-motivated, high-energy individual who can easily function in a high demand, performance-driven environment. He/she must be accustomed to working on multiple tasks in parallel. This professional must demonstrate strong leadership skills, best demonstrated by the individual’s ability to gain credibility with team members and senior management.
