Sensata Technologies, Inc. Product Manager, Mechanical Condition & Safety (Smart & Connected) in Attleboro, Massachusetts
Sensata Technologies is looking for an entrepreneurial product manager to develop the product strategy and drive the product roadmap from concept development to market leadership for smart and connected technologies that serve mechanical condition and safety applications on commercial trucks and trailers (e.g. wheel ends, tires, brakes, etc.).
Commercial fleets are seeking to deploy smart and connected devices across trucks and trailers in order to generate actionable insight from sensors to reduce breakdown costs, reduce time for pre/post-trip inspections, and improve vehicle safety as well as fuel efficiency. As the Product Manager you will be responsible for understanding and translating the business needs of commercial fleets related to mechanical condition and safety into a compelling technology solution comprised of a vehicle area network platform and a portfolio of wireless sensors.
This is a unique opportunity at Sensata to play a highly visible role to develop and execute on a product strategy that is both compelling and achievable as a result of combining a deep understanding of customer and partner needs with our smart and connected technology capabilities. The Product Manager will work closely with market development, engineering, and operations teams along with all types of customers and partners across the commercial fleet ecosystem, including truck and trailer OEMs, tiers and telematics providers.
This role reports to the Senior Product Manager for Smart & Connected and the selected candidate will join a highly motivated and growing team within a new ventures organization at Sensata charged with incubating and commercializing new technologies.
Understand market outlook and ecosystem evolution for mechanical condition and safety applications across smart and connected trucks and trailers for different customer segments and go-to-market channels in each global region.
Build deep customer empathy in partnership with the market development team for typical use cases experienced by each stakeholder (e.g. driver, production technician, fleet back office, etc.)
Synthesize product requirements and develop a differentiated product strategy for an integrated solution consisting of high value wireless sensors and an interoperable vehicle area network platform connecting trucks and trailers.
Define the multi-generation product roadmap, determining which devices and features should be prioritized across each customer segment and go-to-market channel.
Facilitate product/solution development in collaboration with engineering.
Lead product positioning and value proposition development for each customer segment and go-to-market channel; use data to illustrate conclusions that address commercial fleet business needs.
Develop monetization strategies and pricing models for solution offerings, including creating innovative new revenue/business models.
The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:
4+ years post-MBA or 6+ years work experience performing relevant product management or related job function.
B.S. degree in engineering, or related quantitative field. MBA preferred.
Ideal candidate will have experience with commercial fleets, telematics and/or commercial vehicle solutions.
Strong understanding of the principles of IoT solution architecture and development including analytics, compute infrastructure, networking, operating systems, connectivity protocols, sensors, etc.
Demonstrated ability to lead and drive complex product definition and development with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
Outstanding organizational skills, especially the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities being executed by multiple teams.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to work in a cross-functional environment and deliver results despite the ambiguity and complexity typically associated with emerging markets.
Structured thinking with analytical skills.
Desire to make a significant impact in a high growth environment.
Energetic, collaborative, self-motivated and autonomous.
Willingness to travel as required across North America and Europe
Strong MS PowerPoint and Excel skills
