Job Summary
The Production Stage Manager is a key position for the production management team. The person in this position coordinates the daily operations of the department as well as the performance facilities in preparation for scheduled events. In coordination with the Production Manager, this position acts as a technical supervisor for all events and shows for the Fine Arts Center (FAC) and its rental clients. The Production Stage Manager is responsible for hiring, training and scheduling student crews.
Essential Functions
Assists in providing technical support for indoor, outdoor, off-campus and virtual sites. Serves as technical supervisor during rehearsals and maintenance calls, offering advice on stage lighting and sound technology, and livestreaming. Assists in supervising the load-in and load-out of visiting production company materials. Assists the production staff in performance of their duties as scheduled. Stage manages all events and shows as needed.
Hires, schedules, trains and oversees work of student work crews. Assists the Production Manager with coordinating the workload of FAC production staff, crews and shops. Provides coverage for technical staff as needed. Checks weekly crew timesheets.
Together with the Production and Operation Managers, implements production training programs for student crews for the execution of live, virtual and hybrid events.
Advances all technical aspects of incoming productions during the six weeks prior to the event date. Documents technical information needed to run events in FAC venues. Creates post production reports and communications.
Follows venue procedures to maintain security for equipment and production personnel.
Advises production, rentals, and student crews on state and local safety and fire regulations and oversees compliance with these codes.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)
Three (3) year's of experience in a similar position, including dance, live theater, concerts and/or production experience. A Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, technical theater, theater or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
Experience working with stagehands.
Experience working with students.
Functional competency in the operation of production lighting, sound and video equipment.
Functional competency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Functional competency with video platforms such as Zoom.
Ability and willingness to lift, push and pull heavy road cases, and to be an active participant in all aspects of load-in and load-out.
Skilled at organizing and communicating detailed information in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)
First Aid/CPR certification.
Experience working in higher education.
Experience supervising students.
Functional competency in the use and operation of livestream equipment/software, QLab, and Vectorworks software.
Intermediate competency with video platforms such as Zoom.
Intermediate competency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
Ability to work at substantial heights.
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. over a distance.
Work Schedule
37.5 hours per week.
Required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays according to production schedule needs.
Must be able to work up to 18 hour shifts according to production schedule needs.
Overtime required as needed.
