Job Summary

The Associate Director of Programming and Asian Arts & Culture works under the Director of Programming to devise a performing arts season that reinforces the artistic identity and goals of the Fine Arts Center (FAC) and oversees the curation of an Asian Arts & Culture performing arts season. The position is responsible for creating a coherent, innovative, and artistically important aspect of the FAC performing arts season featuring the performing arts from across Asia & the Middle East (broadly defined).

Essential Functions

  • Reports to the Director of Programming to reinforce and advocate for the FAC’s performing arts vision and curation among audiences, donors, artists, agents, community members, students, faculty, administrators, and staff.

  • Oversees an artistic presentation of Asian Arts & Culture including curating the selection of artists and events, supervising production and other event support staff.

  • Oversees and manages a budget for Asian Arts & Culture presentations, artists’ contracts and educational and outreach activities.

  • Assists with research and writing of grants from campus and off campus funding sources to develop a broader funding base for performing arts programs.

  • Maintain links with the Asian and Asian-American communities and public school teachers on a consistent basis through volunteer committees, evaluation panels, etc.

  • Interact and coordinate programs with Five College faculty and staff as required and assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Master’s degree in arts or related field with equivalent of two or more years of graduate study and training in Asian dance, theater, music or other performing arts.

  • Five years of performance, theater production and/or arts management experience.

  • Understanding of various Asian cultural identities with fluency in one or more Asian languages a plus.

  • Ability to interact with multicultural communities in multiple settings.

  • Able to work evening and weekends in support of performances and related activities.

Work Schedule

Typically Monday – Friday 8:30 – 4, with an ability to work evening and weekends in support of performances and related activities.
