For candidates based in CT, this position typically pays between \$80.8k - \$101.7k Job Summary: The PSM & Utilities Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the plant\'s utility systems, including ammonia refrigeration, boilers, chillers, air compressors, HVAC systems, wastewater treatment, and other related equipment. The role encompasses compliance with OSHA\'s Process Safety Management (PSM) standards and EPA\'s Risk Management Plan (RMP) requirements while fostering a culture of safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement. This position serves as a key leader in the plant\'s environmental stewardship, maintenance strategy, and resource conservation initiatives. SEE THE HP HOOD WEBSITE FOR COMPLETE JOB DESCRIPTION Education and Experience: Associate degree in engineering, maintenance, or a related field. Bachelor\'s degree preferred. 3+ years of experience in PSM and ammonia refrigeration systems; relevant extra experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. RETA Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator (CIRO) certification or similar training preferred. Technical knowledge of refrigeration systems, boilers, wastewater systems, and electrical/control systems required. Proficiency in OSHA\'s PSM and EPA\'s RMP regulations, hazard analysis methods (e.g., HAZOP), and emergency planning. Experience in vendor and contractor management for utility system design, installation, and repairs. Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar tools for updating P&IDs and managing changes. Other Information/Physical Requirements (if needed): Standing: Long periods of time. (4 - 6 hours) Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical activities such as climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods. Exposure to varying temperatures ranging from -40?F to 125?F and working in wet or outdoor conditions as needed. Availability for off-shift hours, weekends, and holidays to address critical issues or emergencies Work Environment: Manufacturing environment with moving parts High noise levels Outdoor temperature ranges from 95? and higher to -5? and lower Indoor temperature ranges from 80? and higher to -30? and lower Wet, damp, and icy conditions Chemical hazards including cleaning and refrigeration chemical Safety Responsibilities: Work in a safe and responsible manner at all times, following all safety policies, procedures, and rules Report unsafe observations or conditions to a supervisor or manager Immediately report an injury or accident to a supervisor or manager Meet all company requirements for training, including Log Out/Tag Out, confined space, electrical safety, Hazmat Technician, hot work, ladder, fall protection, fire safety, etc SQF Requirements/Responsibilities: Report food safety problems to a supervisor or manager Support Safe Quality Food (SQF) initiatives by maintaining work areas in a sanitary condition and addrssing food safety concerns.
