SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Present/Perform a variety of Music and Arts shows in the Charles Hayden Planetarium for a variety of audiences. Learn to operate Planetarium systems and use them creatively to match visuals to music and at times to deliver other programs designed to create entertaining and engaging experiences for Museum visitors. Interact with audiences and monitor the theater for issues, making judgements as needed to resolve them. Participate in safety trainings to ensure visitor and staff safety at all times and in the Guest Service Orientation program to support the Museum's commitment to providing guests and colleagues with a welcoming and comfortable environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Present 3-5 programs per evening on approximately 35 evenings annually - at least 2 shifts per month. Museum and Arts shows are generally presented on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Interact with 200-1000 Museum visitors per shift.
Manage audiences of 20-200 visitors per show.
Operate and troubleshoot as needed Planetarium equipment including: fulldome projection systems, laser projection systems, sound systems, lighting systems, other automation systems, computers and software, PA systems, radios, and other communication devices.
Assist with 2-4 additional evenings per year for other Planetarium special events as requested.
WORK SCHEDULE:
This position is regular, part-time
Fridays, Saturday nights on regular rotation and occasional one-off special events/meetings (4-6 per year)
REPORTS TO:
Director, Immersive Theaters and Programs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
General knowledge and understanding of the work environment. HS Diploma or equivalent.
1 or more years of Audio-Visual, Theater operations, and/or DJ/VJ performance experience.
Experience with public speaking and/or performing.
Demonstrated ability to handle complex software and technical systems.
Demonstrated ability to manage an audience or large groups of people.
Experience with basic troubleshooting of computers.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and reliably follow established procedures.
STARTING SALARY:
Non-Exempt (Hourly). $25.00 / hour
