Job summary

The Red Hat Management Business Unit (MBU) is looking for a Senior Director of Marketing for Managed Products to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you’ll guide product marketing for its market leading businesses that include Red Hat Satellite, Red Hat Insights, Red Hat Cloudforms, Ansible by Red Hat, and Ansible Tower by Red Hat. You will report directly to the MBU general manager and vice president while guiding a team of 15+ product marketers, technical marketers, field enablers, and customer engagement professionals. You’ll partner closely with other leaders across corporate marketing, product management, engineering, chief technologists, field organizations, and engineering to bring market intelligence and the voice of the customer to internal operations and to implement compelling GTM strategies and successful launches. We’ll need you to have experience guiding successful product marketing teams and initiatives that resulted in a direct positive impact on the business.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Develop and implement integrated product marketing plan for the MBU with clear objectives, key results, and metrics of success; ensure consistency of plans across all solution areas

  • Closely collaborate with other product marketing and business leadership teams to ensure common GTM themes, sales enablement processes, and product launches

  • Drive positioning and messaging for all solutions and services areas under the MBU, as well as for key initiatives involving related to MBU

  • Serve as the communication officer for the MBU general manager and vice president, handling internal communication and external presentations as needed

  • Collaborate as a member of the MBU leadership team to establish and measure business objectives and metrics, aligned with the regional businesses and engineering

  • Participate in the Product Marketing Leadership Council and help drive cross-BU initiatives that improve launch effectiveness and overall market success for Red Hat solutions and services

  • Meet with customers and partners to identify and understand key customer challenges and market gaps, and to help guide awareness, cross-sell and up-sell, and improve overall customer and partner engagement

  • Be the voice of the customer and market to the business, product management, and engineering

  • Serve as key media and analyst spokesperson for the BU and the company

  • Guide strategic plans for analyst relations, working closely with the Augmented Reality (AR) team and other product marketers, to achieve solid analyst relationships and rankings in relevant market reports

  • Successfully manage a product marketing team and a multi-million dollar budget

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, computer science, or related field; higher degree or equivalent experience is a plus

  • 10+ years of relevant product marketing experience with increasing responsibility, including work in both early-stage private company environments as well as in a publicly traded company

  • 10+ years of software industry experience, preferably within an area of IT automation, hybrid cloud management, critical issue resolution, and IT operations or systems management; product experience with Red Hat solutions is an advantage

  • Proven success dealing with complexity at a global level, across multiple channels and multiple product lines, with regard to multiple competitors and partners, and broadly with the market as a whole

  • Demonstrated ability to create premium sales tools and educate a global sales force

  • Excellent creative and content creation skills; ability to shape product marketing strategy and deliver compelling content that guides awareness, thought leadership, and demand

  • Demonstrated ability to manage both local and remote product marketing teams, while building solid collaboration and team core values

  • Combination of visionary, strategic and pragmatic skills, encompassing both strategic product marketing abilities and practical tactical involvement

  • Exposure to and participation in relevant open source communities and clear understanding of the open source development model

  • Track record of working with analysts, press, partners, and other impactful communities

  • Experience with researching, evaluating, and presenting market and customer requirements, competitive situations, and overall market trends

  • Experience developing and presenting product marketing selling content, including positioning, messaging, and solution selling concepts or themes

  • Proven track record of success in a fast moving, technical environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Extensive technical knowledge, with the ability to explain customer requirements and use cases to engineering teams

  • Willingness to travel up to 25%, including international travel
