The PR Specialist is responsible for supporting the PR Manager in the day-to-day public relations efforts for the local operating company (LOC). This position assists in the development and implementation of PR strategies to position and promote national, regional, and LOC leadership, and affiliated sales associates to various publics. The role is responsible for ensuring that promotional efforts meet all legal parameters.
The PR Specialist is also tasked with providing support to LOC Presidents and branch managers as needed for local promotional efforts that help build the image and perception of the brand locally. This role implements public relations plans as driven by the Director and PR Managers for the promotion of events held for sales associates such as award celebrations, fundraisers for charitable organization, and celebratory events for developer clients such as groundbreakings, topping off ceremonies, etc. The PR Specialist is also responsible for daily news monitoring and monthly reporting.
Essential job duties include but are not limited to the following:
Support Public Relations Strategy:
Works with PR Manager to implement PR strategies at the LOC level to effectively engage sales associates and communicate with the LOC’s many publics.
Writes press releases, articles, media alerts, and Op/ed’s to drive promotional efforts in the LOCs.
Builds relationships with appropriate media outlets and acts as a liaison between media and internal clients.
Coordinates media interviews with management and field. Conducts all necessary research and composes releases using AP Style guidelines, and obtains all appropriate approvals.
Advises PR Manager and Director of potential crises situations and manages as necessary.
Coordinates publicity efforts for celebratory occasions such as ground breakings, office ribbon cuttings, and promotional events for charitable foundation.
Media and Social Media Monitoring:
Monitors news daily and reports promotional activities monthly.
Assists the social media team on social media site monitoring daily and engages with consumers and agent constituents as needed.
Support Social Media Placement:
Assists social media team with social media placement across LOCs.
Follows Brand and Global Luxury teams when necessary to guarantee that important campaigns are covered and posts are shared often between the Brand and LOCs.
Follows policy for managing all LOC social channels and reports inconsistencies to team members.
Works with team leads to ensure regional social media goals are being met.
Ensures promotional materials and services are up-to-date and maintained on intranet sites, shared servers, etc.
Maintains press release templates on various LOC intranet sites.
Keeps website newsfeeds up-to-date.
Maintains media lists as needed.
Assists various operational departments with their PR needs.
Support office promotions where needed.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism or related field.
5+ years of experience in public relations, corporate communications and social media in a corporate and/or agency setting.
Experience and in-depth knowledge of communication planning and AP-style writing.
Must know how to develop relationships with various constituencies.
Proficient in managing a team.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, and can effectively communicate across multiple platforms and to numerous constituents.
Ability to effectively present information to clients, employees and organization leadership.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Uses sound logical judgment to choose an appropriate course of action.
Takes decisive action and seeks assistance of supervisor in decision-making, as appropriate.
Has the flexibility to change direction when facts so warrant.
Accepts both the positive and negative consequences of decisions. Evaluates risks, consequences and interests of those affected by decisions.
Proficient with MC Office suite of products, and social media channels.
Must be proficient with media monitoring software services.
Must be able to carry presentation materials on occasion.
This position can require overnight travel to multiple domestic destinations on a quarterly basis or as needed.
