The Regional Brokerage Director will be responsible for building and growing the brokerage business on the Midwest. Applying recent success with direct sales and growth of brokerage business, the Regional Brokerage Director will be accountable for creating and executing upon an actionable plan to penetrate new markets for brokerage growth and elevating sales growth in existing markets. Results will be measured and rewarded quarterly through eligibility for the variable sales incentive program (VICP).

  • Handles complex long-term focused projects involving multiple disciplines or business units.

  • Works independently and with management on high visible, divisional/cross-divisional complex projects.

  • Sought as a key resource for resolution of unique or complex business problems.

  • Advances the interest of the company by serving on teams that are external to the organization when appropriate

  • Drives continuous improvement and efficiencies beyond own scope of responsibility

  • Individual typically has at least 8+ years of related experience


  • Partnerwith Regional Vice Presidents in assigned region to analyze opportunities for strategic brokerage growth in the region and specific assigned agencies.

  • Evaluate, propose changes to and implement a variety of home office programs/strategies to grow brokerage business.

  • Support General Agents and Managing Partners in the recruitment, selection and onboarding of Brokerage Directors.

  • Support Brokerage Directors in prospecting and marketing to brokers and broker entities.

  • Collaborate with the MMFA Field Management team to promote overall growth and success of the Region and assigned agencies.

Essential knowledge, skills and abilities required to be successful at this role:

  • Success selling & growing Brokerage business over 7-10 year recent period, reflecting success in current market, technology and economic conditions).

  • Deep actionable competitive knowledge of brokerage market (evidence of existing database of broker contacts).

  • Ability to successfully research,propose, create new market opportunities within MassMutual guidelines and develop multi-pronged playbook of approaches.

  • Product knowledge expertise (Whole Life, Disability, Annuities and LTC).

  • Knowledge of Advanced Sales concepts

  • Ability to drive sales through others.

  • Ability to create actionable sales plans.

  • Ability to manage recruiting, selection, hiring, onboarding of new agency Brokerage Directors.

  • Ability to train, coach brokerage sales strategies to agencies looking to enhance current system and scratch agencies.

  • 8+ years of successful selling & growing Brokerage business in a recent period (reflecting success in current market, technology and economic conditions)

  • BA/BS College Degree

  • Willingness to travel 100% of the time

  • Residence in region or a home office location supporting region

  • Microsoft office expertise (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.

  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in US for any employer without requiring Visa sponsorship.


  • Experience with Career Agency System / General Agents

  • Licenses 6 & 63 a plus
