Communications Director/Senior Operational Department

The Field Communications Team within Advisors Services is responsible for driving and implementing the company’s communication and messaging strategy to its nationwide sales force. The team’s responsibilities include writing and delivering product, industry, business operational and company news to our sales force via the company online news site, emails, voicemail, newsletters, podcasts, video and presentations.

Job Summary This position requires a seasoned communication professional with marketing, editing, writing and online publishing experience. Experience with communicating to a sales force and senior leadership, as well as working knowledge of insurance and wealth management products and business operations is desired. This individual will manage and develop a team of communication consultants and drive the analysis and upgrading of core team capabilities and develop a long-term plan to upgrade the department’s technical capabilities with use of new tools for online publishing, video and podcast deliverables, and senior leadership presentation capabilities. The individual will be a key contributor when handling field-facing crisis and issues management and work closely with both peers and senior management to drive positive and effective communication results.

  • Job Responsibilities & Requirements • Manage the field communications team. Coach, support and set an excellent example for junior communicators on the team.• Manage the field communication distribution process.• Own the communication platforms used by the team, interfacing with other business and technology teams on its support.• Develop a strategy for improving the team’s capabilities.• Develop a strategy for delivering communications increasing the use of video, podcasts, and other modern delivery methods.• Write and edit copy for news articles and other communication vehicles, including talking points and field facing executive commentary. • Partner with senior managers to develop communication plans for their respective areas with a clear understanding of company goals.• Actively collaborate with internal communications team on messaging relevant for delivery to field audiences. Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years of management experience.

  • 5+ years of communications or journalism experience.

  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills with strong visual and PowerPoint skills.

  • Keen interest in knowing our audiences and learning how to best communication to those audiences.

  • Ability to counsel, prepare and coach senior business leaders on communication deliverables and strategies.

  • Ability to respond quickly and strategically to issues and crises that surface and inform key internal audiences.

  • Ability to effectively communicate broad range of financial and business information, including highly sensitive and confidential matters as required.

  • Strong ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to react strategically and quickly to changing business needs when required.

  • Organized, excellent team player with collaborative style and able to work with all departments throughout the company.
