POSITION SUMMARY

This position is in the Insurance Product Experience, Profit and Risk Analysis team. As part of the MMUS Product Management and Marketing division, this team is responsible for providing in depth analysis of the decrements (morbidity, mortality, and persistency), expenses, and other levers that drive product profitability, capital use and risk. The MMUS portfolio of insurance includes life, annuity, disability, long term care, and critical illness sold in the retail, direct-to-consumer, worksite, and institutional markets. Team members are expected to form an opinion, advocate for the company and our policyholders, and drive action.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leadexperience studies acrossMMUS that support strategic risk/reward analysis and decisions

  • Set assumptions for new product development, annual dividend and overall product portfolio risk assessment

  • Develop/enhance/utilize product financial models to monitor portfolio profitability

  • Identify risks inherent in new and current product design and develop strategy and process to manage and mitigate

  • Present complex analysis in simple and straightforward manner to key stakeholders

  • Support the adoption, utilization and continuous improvement of analytical methodologies

  • Extract relevant insights from data

  • Formopinions, make recommendations, and drive change

  • Incorporate predictive modeling to understand the potential impact on future experience associated with proposed business and underwriting decisions

  • Support risk assessment and mitigation of new product development and product management

  • Comply with appropriate Actuarial Standards of Practice, Code of Professional Conduct, and company standards

  • Partner with Enterprise Risk and Actuarial regarding approaches methodologies and findings of various analytics and experience initiatives

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with strategic and financial management leaders across the enterprise including CFO, ERM, ALM, and ESAG Steering Committee

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-10 years relevant actuarial experience

  • Experience with actuarial software and models

  • Ability to build, validate, enhance, and maintain asset share pricing models

  • Ability to interact with technical and non-technical audiences at all levels, within and across organizational boundaries

  • Ability to use a disciplined work approach to initiatives, projects, and day-to-day activities

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, or related discipline

  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • FSA, MAAA designations preferred

  • In depth experience with data analytics tools, such as R, preferred
