Job Description

Southborough, MA - The Sr. Marketing Manager will be responsible to provide all marketing guidance related to new innovative products and services for certain defined projects across multiple surgical specialties. The incumbent will work closely with medical professionals to interpret and report key findings related to user needs, user behaviors, and user insights related to these key project initiatives. He/She will need to employ a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods, both in the clinical and preclinical lab settings, and translate these insights for the product managers and designers to leverage in their product development efforts. As such, the incumbent will partner with team members from product marketing, business intelligence, engineering, and R&D throughout the research and design processes. To be successful, he/she is expected to forge strong external partnerships with Healthcare Professionals within the worldwide Urologic, Gynecologic, ENT, General Surgery, and Gastroenterology communities as well as with internal functions to establish tangible user requirements, product specifications, and potential new indications for use. It is expected that the individual will independently lead and develop a deep understanding of the market needs, market trends, competitive forces, and disruptive technologies. EOE M/F/D/V

Job Duties:

  • Implement User-Centered-Design methodologies, such as Design Thinking and/or Bio-Inspired Design, to assist in development of concepts for innovative new products and services across the Urologic, Gynecologic, ENT, General Surgery, and Gastroenterology specialties.

  • Arrange pre-clinical/simulation labs for the purpose of product testing / evaluation, including identifying surgeon investigators.

  • Support the R&D team in writing the lab protocols.

  • Act as an integral member of core development teams working on new product development projects. This includes frequent attendance to regularly scheduled project meetings, participation in product based risk management activities, development of performance expectations, providing clinical insight into test method development, etc.

  • Visit customer sites. Leading user meetings to discuss product performance.

  • Document any performance problems or deficiencies noted.

  • Assemble, edit, and transmit all critical information back to management and the product development team.

  • Perform all other essential duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree is required; Master’s Degree is preferred.

  • Minimum of 6 years of Marketing experience is required.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in medical device field is required.

  • Engineering or Technical experience is preferred.

  • Clinical training and experience is preferred.

  • Strong technical aptitude is desired.

  • Strong analytical skills related to qualitative, quantitative, and mixed research methods, as well as usability validation are essential.

  • Must be a strategic thinker.

  • Strong ability to multi-task, enabling work on multiple large research projects simultaneously, is necessary.

  • Ability to discover, interpret, and communicate user insights for product design is desired.

  • Ability to interact positively with clinicians, management, C Suite and customers is a plus.

  • Ability to interact positively with marketing, sales, engineering, regulatory, manufacturing, and operations teams is a must.

  • Must possess strong clinical knowledge and aptitude; must be comfortable in working with physicians in an operating room and GI lab environment Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

  • Must be comfortable in presenting to groups; large and small.

  • Project Management experience and skills are essential.

  • Must be self motivated, autonomous individual with track record of meeting deadlines and goals.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% both within the domestic U.S & Internationally is essential.
