Job Description

Southborough, MA - The Senior Analyst, Sales & Marketing is a member of the Analytics team and deliver analytical support to our market leading ENT business line. The incumbent will work cross functionally with Marketing and Sales personnel from the ENT business unit, as well as members of the Analytics team, to deliver insights that help guide business decisions and support go-forward strategies. He/She will work on projects that range from segmentation and targeting initiatives to sales promotion analysis and data visualization/dashboarding efforts. To be successful in this role, the incumbent will be an Excel expert, but will also have experience working with Business Intelligence tools such as SAP BusinessObjects or Oracle Business Intelligence and enjoy figuring out how to automate reporting and analysis that used to be a manual chore. He/She will have an orientation toward ensuring integrity with respect to the quantitative analyses you lead, and are comfortable delivering insights in written or verbal formats. The incumbent will interact with the Marketing, Sales and Finance teams and will pride yourself in being the "data guru" on the team. He/She must feel comfortable taking initiative, consider yourself a self- starter and understand the importance of providing excellent customer service to the team you support. The incumbent will report to the Senior Manager of Analytics and will ultimately be a part of the Marketing Operations team at Olympus, which comprises four groups: Professional Services, Analytics, Market Intelligence/Healthcare Economics & Reimbursement and Benchmarking. All of these teams are bound together through a mission to turn data into actionable insights that our internal and external customers can use to make better decisions. EOE M/F/D/V

Job Duties:

  • Provide ROI analysis of marketing campaigns and targeted sales activities.

  • Engage with project sponsors and stakeholders to understand each business initiative.

  • Probe for hidden questions and goals.

  • Bring structure to each request and translates requirements into an analytic approach.

  • Work with Market Intelligence counterparts to provide market analysis of various segments (size, competition, trends, market-share, new business development opportunities, etc.).

  • Work with Product Management to identify target customers for marketing/sales initiatives by focusing on segmentation exercises.

  • Work with Sales Operations to integrate target lists into CRM as new sales leads; monitor sales performance against target lists.

  • Understand relationships between front end applications and data repositories.

  • Ensure quality of the source information/data that is relied upon by management in their decision making.

  • Analyze marketing and sales metrics to identify cause-effect relationships between market/customer actions and financial outcomes in order to increase profitability.

  • Build dashboards with Business Intelligence tools such as SAP BusinessObject tool set (Webi, Design Studio and Lumira) to visualize key performance indicators for specific customers, products and/or promotions.

  • Work directly with and interview sales representatives and customers in order to inform effectiveness of strategies and uncover potential strategic/tactical opportunities.

  • Educate users regarding the functional use of analyses, reports and other tools.

  • Perform all other essential duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree is required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is required, preferably in the consulting, pharmaceutical, medical devices or insurance industries.

  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills are necessary.

  • Familiarity with relational data bases is necessary.

  • SQL experience is preferred.

  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools is required.

  • SAP/BOBJ experience is preferred.

  • Excellent analytical, writing and presentation skills are desired.

  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to prioritize and execute on multiple concurrent tasks.

  • Ability to convert analytical findings to business outcomes so that they are clear and concise to any audience is essential.

  • Must be highly proficient with Microsoft applications (i.e. PowerPoint, Excel, Access).

  • SAS experience is highly preferred.

  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, results-driven.

  • Must be able to travel domestically if projects require.
