Southborough, MA - The Director, Intelligence and Strategy will provide strategic leadership to Olympus Surgical Technologies America ("OSTA") in the areas of Business Intelligence, Business Development, and Commercial Strategy formation support. The incumbent will be responsible for providing data, analysis and recommendations to drive business decisions regarding sales and marketing strategies and new market and product opportunities in order to drive revenue growth. He/She is responsible for leading a nimble, flexible customer insights driven organization that is structured to uncover new ways to gain competitive advantage in the market. The incumbent is responsible for keeping current on new technologies, trends, economics, health care policies entering the market and best practices associated with the development, use and governance of data and information. The incumbent will work with other business leaders to create key priority areas (this may include specific industry segments, customer demographics, or product lines). He/she will then lead a team of people tasked with uncovering deep insights and then use these insights to formulate and test new concepts in the market. Identify market opportunities, business plans and requirements for strategic investments.
Support the development of business strategies (beyond products) such as market development strategies, go- to-market plans, selling methodologies, alternate approaches to positioning, and geographic opportunities.
Provide commercial, clinical and customer insights to drive Business Development opportunities.
Collaborate with Upstream Marketing, Sales and other commercial functions in OSTA for the identification, vetting and management of new strategic opportunities, including partnerships, licensing and acquisitions.
Develop and maintain situational analyses for OSTA’s current and potential business, markets and customers. .
Provide support for the development of OSTA strategic planning as well as global strategic groups with a focus on OSTA’s product line.
Direct the intelligence gathering and market research activities of OSTA to identify opportunities for revenue growth.
Synthesize information to generate insights and recommendations on business strategies and opportunities for OSTA.
Actively communicate findings, insights and recommendations.
Exhibit all corporate and divisional expectations of people leaders to include, but not be limited to developing employees, managing employee performance/engagement, promoting continuous improvement, managing department business/communications, driving organizational alignment, selecting/retaining talent, and consistently modelling excellence, integrity, and accountability.
Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s Degree is required; marketing or engineering fields preferred; an MBA is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in medical device marketing, engineering or sales is required with strong emphasis on gathering and analyzing business intelligence.
Project Management experience and skills are required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Strong leadership skills with proven ability to effectively manage people are necessary.
Strong organizational and team building skills are essential.
Ability to interact positively with clinicians, management, C Suite and customers is desired.
Ability to interact positively with marketing, sales, engineering, regulatory, finance, legal, manufacturing, and operations teams is preferred.
Must have strong clinical knowledge and aptitude.
Must be comfortable in working with physicians in an operating room and clinician office environment.
Must have strong technical aptitude and be comfortable in working with engineers and other technicians.
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written is essential.
Must have aptitude and experience in selling concepts and interfacing with senior level management; internal and external.
Must have comfortable in presenting to groups; large and small.
Strong analytical skills; financial and strategic, are essential.
Aptitude to review and negotiate Business Agreements is necessary.
Project Management experience and skills are essential.
Must be a team player, team leader that prides oneself on collaboration.
*Must be self motivated, autonomous individual with track record of meeting deadlines and goals.
Strong Business to Business marketing skills are necessary.
Ability to travel up to 30%, both domestically and internationally.
Strong business and strategic marketing experience with a proven track record of leading initiative based projects to create growth and market differentiation is essential.
