NORTHAMPTON Full time The Vice President of Business Development and Strategy is responsible for achieving the targeted strategic results for the development and capture of new business, both internationally and domestically, by providing leadership and oversight of the organization?s business development strategy, including merger and acquisition initiatives that will support the growth goals of the Maritime Sensor Systems sector. This position will provide strategic direction to the Business Development leaders within the Maritime Sensor Systems business units, manage rules of engagement, and identify and leverage synergistic opportunities across the sector. Provide leadership to Business Development activities associated with Maritime Sensor Systems (MSS) Programs including market research and analysis, strategic business planning, new business forecasting and strategic capture, and bidding and proposal activities. * Lead sector growth objectives by ensuring new business strategies are implemented and proposal requirements are managed appropriately. * Develop and maintain strategic customer relationships. * Understand customer decision-making and funding process. Find new business opportunities, validate opportunities, define customer requirements and lead the transition effort to a capture leads to conduct the proposal and capture effort. * Develop and provide guidance on rules of engagement for BD initiatives across the sector with a focus on international and domestic customer interactions and technology integration across the sector. * Organize and ensure the Strategy & Business Development team is staffed to execute the vision and strategy, and meet the goals and objectives of the business. * Establish and maintain the customer communications, marketing and branding material and related collateral including advertising campaigns, publicity releases and promotional activities. * Maintain key marketing/sales contacts with both domestic and international civilian and military personnel. * Ensure capture teams utilize a defined capture process with appropriate in-process reviews and bid/no-bid decisions along with team reviews and price-to-win analysis for major, must win opportunities. * Lead the strategic planning process and ensure that appropriate analysis is conducted which includes competitive market analysis, internal review of SWOT, and prioritization of opportunities. * Work in concert with Chief Engineer in the IRAD planning process. * Develop new product ideas and identify Open Innovation opportunities in response to current and future market needs. * Maintain the orders pipeline and booking forecasts for the sector. * Oversee participation in tradeshow, conference and event planning and scheduling. * Hold regular new business reviews with the staff to review orders forecasts, the new business pipeline and key capture status. * Strengthen the team's effectiveness by training, coaching, counseling, and assessing performance; communicating values, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; developing incentives; resolving conflicts, and establishing a climate encouraging open communications of information, issues, and opinions. * Create an environment that inspires employees to take personal ownership for achieving facility/business goals, and for continuous performance improvement. * As a member of the leadership team you will participate in the overall direction, competitiveness and health of MSS. * Manages the Marketing Communications and Marketing Analyst functions to support the above responsibilities. Bachelor?s Degree in Business or Technical Field; MBA or Masters preferred * 15 plus years in direct related experience (military or civilian) in the defense industry and a thorough understanding of strategic planning and new business
