Green Mountain Coffee Senior Director, Ecommerce Business Analytics & Data Science in MA, Massachusetts

As the Senior Director, Ecommerce Business Analytics & Data Science, you will lead the team responsible for bringing business and customer insights to the broader Ecommerce team. Ecommerce is a core initiative at Keurig Green Mountain (Keurig). The coffee maker sale is moving online at pace; the majority of small appliance spending is expected to move online over the next five years. Meanwhile, single serve coffee is already driving early scale in online grocery at retailers such as has always been a key distribution channel for both consumers and small business; going forward our customers are increasingly planning to take the single serve coffee maker and pod sale online. Ecommerce, already well developed compared to peer Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) categories, is expected to drive the majority of Keurig’s growth over the next five years.

You will lead a newly formed team whose purpose is to improve Keurig’s overall business performance through the deployment of insights about our online shoppers and customers. Your team will support all online business at Keurig, from direct to consumer on to the fast-growing online channel at both our omnichannel and pure play customers. Accordingly, the scope of your team’s work extends all the way from mining Customer Relationship Management (CRM) data to integrating advanced shopper targeting tactics into our key customer plans.

You will report to the Ecommerce lead and will be a member of the Ecommerce leadership group. Your team of six direct reports will consist of both headquarter based and customer embedded team members. As lead of the group, you will be accountable for the development of a vision and plan on how best to make use of Ecommerce data and insights for Keurig. You will be expected to drive continuous improvement of the use of data to drive business decisions. A key part of your role will be mentoring the individuals on your team with a view to developing and retaining top analytical talent.

What you will do:

  • Develop and deploy your vision for how Keurig can take advantage of analytics and data science best practices, driving a holistic approach to the function that spans across our direct and customer teams

  • Partner with our internal team to take full advantage of the CRM tools and data; build a longitudinal understanding of customer lifetime value (LTV) and then identify the right levers to maximize lifetime value and customer satisfaction

  • Partner with our customer facing sales teams to identify and prioritize opportunities to develop our Ecommerce business though our customers; understand the marketplace and the moves of key competitors

  • Lead your team in the delivery of a business reporting cadence on key online customers and business trends; develop and manage a consistent process around written and in- person communication of key issues

  • Manage the external vendor helping us to provide accurate reports on e-Point of Sale (POS) and online share

  • Lead the annual process of working with the Ecommerce team to build the situation assessment of the online marketplace that is required to kick off the annual Ecommerce planning process

  • Work with the consumer and shopper insights teams to identify and then target the right online shoppers of the Keurig system

  • Help build targeting programs and expertise that can be used by both the customer acquisition group and our customer facing teams to integrate into customer promotions

  • Manage the relevant analytical matrix interactions with IT, Digital Marketing, Category Management and Consumer Insights

  • Partner with Revenue Growth Management and Finance to drive the continuous improvement of lift levels and promotional efficiency in our Ecommerce business

  • Build a strong understanding of the prevailing objectives and strategies in our base of key customers so that our Ecommerce programs have the highest chance of being implemented at the customer level

  • Partner with Consumer Insights and Category Management to build an integrated view of the omnichannel path to purchas

  • Bring external thought to the team about best practices in data science from other categories

What you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 15 years of experience, MBA and minimum 10 years of experience, in Ecommerce, data analytics, sales, consumer marketing, or another related field

  • An ability to present to executive level with the right skill set to hone in on the key takeaways and communicate them clearly to audiences with a range of domain expertise

  • A passion for driving best practices and innovation in business analytics and data science

  • Experience leading thought and driving buy-in across multiple levels and functions of an organization to drive improvement in business performance

  • Capability to bring insight and storytelling to quantitative material; must be very comfortable with the use of data from shopper panel and loyalty cards

  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to internally and externally sell work to customers

  • Well-honed matrix skills rooted in a sense of partnership, clarity of purpose and a consistently constructive approach to feedback on work

  • Ability to lead, mentor and develop a team with a variety of reporting line relationships

  • An inclusive style that ensures strong cross functional buy in for the work of your team, especially from sales teams

  • Prefer experience on a customer team for a “Fortune 500” company, or in the Consumer Packaged Goods, Beverage, Small Appliance or related industries.

  • Self-motivated and detail oriented with the ability to lead thinking in a fast-paced and changing environment
