MIT Lincoln Laboratory CO-OP Student -Structural in Lexington, Massachusetts

The Facility Services Department is responsible for the operations and maintenance of the MIT Lincoln Laboratory complex in support of the research mission. It also furnishes the design, engineering, and construction needs of the Laboratory, addressing its ever-changing program requirements. The department's overarching goal is to provide prompt, quality service in a wide spectrum of responsibilities in compliance with state and federal codes, and manage many services that impact the workplace quality of life for the Laboratory's population.

Structural-Co-op

MIT Lincoln Laboratory is a federally funded research and development center that applies advanced technology to problems of national security. Research and development activities focus on long-term technology development as well as rapid system prototyping and demonstration. These efforts are aligned within key mission areas. The Laboratory works with industry to transition new concepts and technology for system development and deployment. The Mission of the Facility Services Department is to establish and maintain a safe, clean, and effective environment for the Laboratory community. Facility Services work force is committed to providing services and support in a high-quality, cost-effective manner.

Working under the guidance of our structural engineer, this student will assist in performing civil and structural design for a wide variety of facilities and infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include: performing calculations; preparation of contract drawings and specifications; reviewing shop drawings and erection procedures; and performing construction administration duties, such as site inspections and responding to requests for information. Duties will also include reviewing and becoming familiar with space planning and architectural drawings.

Requirements

Student should be working towards a degree in civil/structural engineering. Some experience with building construction methods is desirable.

Requirements: · Must be currently enrolled in an educational program working towards a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering. · Some experience with architectural/structural systems is desirable. · Some experience with AutoCad 2015 is desirable. · Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance required.
